Picking up RS6 Performance Saturday - Any running in tips?

Post by lem » Mon Mar 06, 2017 8:25 am

Hi all,

Apologies if there is a thread that covers this but any pointers would be welcome. Will pick up my RS6 performance Saturday. Pre-delivery checks and tracker being fitted at the dealer this week.

Ascari Blue (will be the first time I've seen the colour in the flesh) - Stuck with the titanium additions so will look like a stock 'Performance'
Parking Pack
Advance Key
On air - No DRC
Couple of other little bits but not the worlds highest spec as the Performance had everything on it that I would have added to a standard RS6

Any tips on a sensible running in period which allows me to at least use it?

Cars booked in for paint protection film for the full front end and then g-techniq treatment in and out first week in April.

Will post some pics once I get it home safe and sound - Once I have got over my initial excitement!
Current:
2024 R8 - Daytona Grey
2023 Mercedes G63 AMG
2022 SQ5 - Grey

Most recent Audi
2020 RS6 Vorsprung - Sebring Black
2017 RS6 Performance - Ascari Blue

congratulations !! pics pls

Brakes and taking it easy with them for the first 1000 miles or so I think was the only breaking in I did on mine. There were some issues with warped discs being reported. Ive been lucky with no issues. Changed tyres for MPSS and it feels better on them.

Great car - also have air and a two bar.

Mechanical sympathy, simple as that. Give it beans but wait until it's all warm.

Biggest tip I'd give is cancel your tracker figment by the dealer. It will be fitted in 1 of 2 places which the theives know. Have your tracker fitted by an outside firm and get them to fit it in a better location.

Umm - good idea. Its not being fitted until Wednesday. There is a local company that can do it as well so may investigate them today and see if they can sort it post pick up.

1 other thing. Don't let the dealer take a picture of you and car on collection. They like to post special deliveries on Fb and twatter these days therefore telling the world YOU have a new RS6.

The manual says to avoid full load and red line for first 600 miles then gradually increase load and revs up to 900 miles. And then still take it easy after that too.

Well just don't run into another after coming out of the showroom is my legendary advice.

Congratulations by the way, awaiting pics of your newly acquired beast.
