Re: Need some RS4 seats
Terrible, and very sad to see....
Would it be worth buying a low price CAT D with seats, then break the rest of it for compensation?? Fair bit of work and hassle right enough...

Oh man, I thought this had kind of gone away! Sorry dude, I'm gutted just looking at those photos.
Too late for you this time but worth investing in if you ask me, and for the rest of you guys worried about your seats:

Re: Need some RS4 seats
Gutted for you mate, dont bother with insurance just source the seats pal it's just too much of a nice car to let be written off, really unfortunate... hope they get what they deserve

Re: Need some RS4 seats
Really gutted for you mate. I agree with others it would be a waste to write off such a nice RS4 just because of the stolen seats.
But if you are to replace the seats, I think probably not a good idea to get the wingback again, as the scumbag are still around and as long as there are demand (and high price) for the wingbacks, there will be a risk for break-in again...
May I suggest to consider the Recaro Sportster? They are probably a bit lighter and still looks quite OEMish and sexy. IMO, RS4 wingbacks are quite overpriced for what it is. They are similar price to a set of Porsche GT3 folding bucket seats with airbag (shown in far right here: http://www.porsche.com/international/mo ... ort/seats/ )
If you decided to get the wingback again, I would suggest to put in car window security films. As per MikeFish provided website above, it seems that the seat thief needs to smash the windows in order to get in and disarm the alarm, they also need to drag the seats out through the smashed windows, this suggested the car doors can't be opened during the process. If they can't smashed through the windows (or need to take a much longer time or effort to do so, thus drawing more attention), they probably don't bother.
On YouTube there are videos showing how strong these security film are, some are even bullet proof, it is quite amazing.
Just a thought.

Sorry to hear this!
I am lucky in that the guy I bought mine from was incredibly paranoid about this sort of thing, so he superglued ballbearings into the top of the alan key holes, lol. Hopefully I never have to take them out!
He also put a protective film on the drivers window so that if anyone tries to smash it, it will shatter but stay in place, apparently. Something like this https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=VyKlP2trTrc

Re: Need some RS4 seats
I too am sorry to hear this must be terrible to come back to your car like that. I have fitted a Clifford alarm (more basic than the Viper upgrade) in addition I used green Loctite on the seat bolts and also filled the heads with Sikaflex. I know it won't help you but may be helpful for other owners of bucket seats on here.

Sorry to hear about your car , scumbags and glad I have the comfort seats .
Silly question but had a thought , couldn't the people with Buckets Remove the bolts and refit them from under the car , you would have to remove the floor pan undertray's but for the sake of a few hours work your seats would be safer ??

Re: Need some RS4 seats
Over the years from the reports I've read about, there seem to be 2 crews that do this.
One in the South London area Battersea/Clapham and will venture out to the M25 fringe. The second working around Birmingham.
Outside of these areas are few and far between.

Re: Need some RS4 seats
The problem securing the seats so they can't get them out is they will just cause more damage and although you will have the satisfaction that they couldn't get them, the car will probably still be written off.,
Re: Need some RS4 seats
Hence the loud alarm. I do agree it could be counterproductive but I hope that if becomes too much bother they will move onto another car.
In extremis ad absurdum I should leave the car unlocked so the window & door cards aren't damaged by any seat theives.
