Suspension recommendations.

Post by chris_m » Fri Feb 10, 2017 8:01 pm

Well I think the DRC is shot, the cars knocking like mad. I've read quite a few mixed opinions about the DRC and changing to coilovers. Here I am in that position and don't know where to start. Do I take the car to audi and have them sort it for me or look for some coilovers? If I get coilovers, I'd rather something as close to OE as possible, I don't want to kill the ride. Any suggestions and best place to source?

Cheers.

Thanks mate. Did you DIY or have it done at a specialist?

You'll get people on both sides of the fence here. I've stuck with DRC as I love the system (with a KW adjustable kit), so I've never had to compare it to coilovers. But DRC can get expensive if/when it goes wrong, making coilovers a more attractive option. From memory I think 2 or 3 dampers on mine were changed within a few years of it being built, before I bought the car. During my ownership (3+ years) I've changed just 1 damper, and my dealer did it FOC as the car was 5 years old and on 43k miles.

I bought the car 4 year ago and it had been spot on in the 3 years I owned it. I sold it a year ago to a mate and just bought it back cheap but it's knocking its arse off. It's looking like it needs new disks and pads, 4 new tires and 2 alloys repaired. Isn't it amazing how fast someone can just about wreck a car...

I had them fitted by a garage I also had Superpro bushes fitted at the same time, you can change the stiffness with the kit also.

Okay mate thanks for the input. There's a place not too far from me that sell the suspension kits and do the fitting too. I'll have to get booked in.

Ive just changed to the B14's and am really happy with them. The ride is not a million miles from the DRC but is a little firmer.

B14s for me also, I prefer the ride to Drc. I'd replaced 2 shocks previously and been told the lines were corroding badly on its last mot so decided to change. Haven't done anything with the anti roll bars as some have suggested needs doing to decrease roll, I've noticed no change

Thanks for the replies, that's pretty much put to bed any doubts because tbh, I was just intending on rolling into audi and leaving them the keys.

B14's it will be :)
