Brake overhaul

Post by Harris. » Sat Jan 28, 2017 11:33 pm

Hi all

Have any of you overhauled your brake calipers ? I'm going to a place on Monday to see if they can skin my rear discs as there is no lip on them at all , they are rusty from sitting and don't clean up to well after being driven . Are the rear brakes a little lazy? They quote on there website £55 per disc which seems a good deal .they mainly deal with Porsches but also do Audi's

My front discs are now on there last legs so I'll order some new ones along with pads all round

I'd like to remove the calipers why the above is being done to clean them up and repaint them, do I need to clamp all the hoses or can I let all the fluid run out and replace with fresh fluid after. Silly question to some I know but I've never removed them .

Any help or advice would be good and maybe some pictures of your brakes after a re paint?

Thanks

All my discs were really rusty from lack of use and washing then not using. I took it out for a run up and down the dual carriageway with a few roundabouts and all 4 discs were super shiny afterwards. If they are still rusty after a drive then there may be something wrong with them.

I have overhauled my calipers myself, easy enough job. I brought the new seals an dust seals from a supplier off ebay, genuine brembo seals. Once you have the seals out the part numbers are on them. There not cheap though.
Not sure how far you would like to go with them.
I clamped my hose then fitted braided lines once calipers were ready to refit.

Their website says they have 10% off in january too, but you've only got a day left!
Website says £182 for 2x 8 pot calipers, so that would be £18 off that.
