Newbie looking to buy - what do you think of this?

Post by jester » Sun Jan 29, 2017 10:38 am

http://www.theelitecarriageco.co.uk/use ... eType=cars

Been for sale for a while I think, price has dropped a little too.

Spec is obviously quite low, though I am actually after the comfort seats to have a little more room in the back and to avoid the temptation that the buckets bring for the tea leaves (car parked on street). I quite like the half leather (seems very rare 'option') and the sunroof is a bonus. And I know that silver is not the most sought after.

Spec aside, the price seems quite reasonable for a low ownership, FASH car with reasonable miles. Not sure what work if any has been done concerning DRC / coking / clutch / discs etc.

Any thoughts? Thanks a lot

Looks very straight and clean!
But I think brakes are shot...
(Lip on the front disc indicates end of its life)
Also some bulbs are out. (Warning on the dash) kinda raises the question, why hasn't this been changed? And what else has been neglected..

It seem a very low spec but yes I like the seats.

But another thing, it says 71k but the dash says 72.5k+, colour I like but then I do have one the same but it is very very low spec and I could not get over that struggled with mine after my last one was so high spec but that just way to low.

Pricey for the spec and colour. Buckets and paint aside, as you say, missing full leather, flat bottom steering wheel, carbon fibre trim, auto lights and rain sensors

Wheels look to be refurbished, shame the tyres are only middle-of-the-road?

One option would be to view the car, have a good look through the service sheets, check the claimed FASH is actually FASH (no services beyond 20,000 miles / 2 years) and put in a low offer and leave it with them

Honestly!
Id steer clear, with such a low spec it will be very difficult to sell in the future, and Im sure you will miss the extra little features most RS4s have which make them special.

If you are dead set on it id offer 15K and then at least you can always justify the low spec.

For 18k you can buy a well speced car with lots of common fixes already done.

Only my opinion, Good Luck

Thanks for the replies - spec doesn't worry me too much for myself - it's got nav (FWIW), sunroof, f/r heated seats, Bose - so not totally lacking and comfort spec is personal preference I suppose. But indeed I can see how it could make it very hard to sell on at a later date as I guess most buyers are after all the special stuff.

If the discs are shot, I suppose that is over £1k expense to consider. Plus I suppose clutch will need replacing with those kind of miles if not already done.

So despite being a clean-looking car with a 'sleeper' look that I find appealing - I tend to agree that the money asked still seems a bit strong...

Prob going to need a fair bit spent maintenence eg clutch etc, I bought mine at 80k with all the big jobs done, the previous owner spent a fortune between the 70 and 80k mile point, so def too much money at that price,

You'll need to budget about £1800 for new discs and pads all round from a main dealer. Bit less from an indie or local garage obviously. Mine cost about £1200 from memory, but that was about 3 years ago.
