The alt usually has a sleave on the mounts that move in to the correct size once you tighten the mounting bolt . It makes the alt a bugger to shift sometimes even when the bots are removed . It's out, theres no brand of Any kind visable so probably cheap Chinese stuff.

It's like 2 bolts to replace - dead easy.

Only the left oil line has to Come off from the oil filter housing to have acces.

Do not sand the mounting points you marked, just free off / move the sleeve / insert on the alternator.

The pic above reminds me. Cars these days often have oil coolers, sometimes multiple ones (ours do). So the amount of oil staying in the system during an oil change is quite high.
Whenever I buy a new (to me) car with coolers, I always recommend changing the oil 3x times or until it stops looking manky for a decent period of time....
You probably all notice if the oil's a <beep> colour, you change it - and within 100 miles, the new stuff looks pretty grim too. This is a combo of the new & old remnants mixing, plus the detergent effect of the new oil also cleaning the engine innards a bit. But on the 3rd change, you'll notice after 100 miles the oil stays looking nice and clean - this means you've got all the old crap out, and it stays a golden colour much much longer. Then switching to a more regular change schedule than the manufacturer says (pretty sure we all do on the RS6 anyway...) helps keep everything much cleaner. The black is basically carbon crap that I don't want swirling around my engines! OK, so you spend a bit more on oil in the beginning - in the scheme of things, no big deal.
The same also applies to auto boxes - if your change is overdue, but the gearbox is otherwise OK - change it 2 or 3 times. There's sh!t loads of oil that hangs around inside the torque converter & coolers.
