Can anyone consider RS6 C6 to be an investment grade car?
With first RS6 and likely to be V10.
Investment grade I mean will the price drop below 20K and where would a decent RS6 C6 price be in 5 years?

I would say Looking at the car markets and what happening then yes over the long term say 10 years, then your investment at this stage would probably see some profit . But it's the up keep for this period that would outway any surge in market value, also the c6 is yet to have its price pushed down by the c7 like the c6 due to the c5 and now they are back on the up.

No.
And that's before you factor in the comical running costs as mentioned above. And as also mentioned above, the C7 has sold in massively higher numbers, and prices of these are coming down fast
C6s are only going one way at the moment. And as discussed in recent threads, there is a big difference between what traders are asking for them and what they are actually selling for.
Search for Andy's on this forum, sold about four of five months ago, cannot be a cleaner example out there, sold for between 20-21k. Traders asking 30k+ for them are having a giraffe, do not let these advert asking prices kid you that residuals are solid, or that 'they might appreciate,' because they won't
Forgive me if this sounds harsh. But there are several people who have been shafted by C6s. Andy, Tom who had extremely unlucky reliability, and there was someone else who's name escapes me who bought a mongrel and a garage messed it up further (and ripped him off) trying to fix it

Nope.
Show me another exec class Audi bruiser that has held value or started to appreciate as a "modern classic".

Re: Can anyone consider RS6 C6 to be an investment grade car
Anybody who buys a car as an investment is either an idiot or has more money than sense.
Very, very, very few cars make money - some do at launch when somebody is willing to pay a premium to own a car that's in short supply but even then it's rare.
The C6? Give it 10-15 years and prices might start to rise but until then they're going downwards. Once things have bottomed out I doubt that they'll ever reach 20K again in today's money - they might when the minimum wage is £100 an hour.....

Re: Can anyone consider RS6 C6 to be an investment grade car
There's another comically priced one come to market today - just shy of £41k. Yes, it's a Plus and it's not a horrid colour combo or poverty spec. Also MTM tuned. But 41k?!
The one I looked at recently was originally priced at £40k - even when reduced to £34k it hung around....
My 2002 S8 I sold recently after 6 years ownership I made a very small profit on, ignoring the substantial running and repair costs. On a C6 I'd say breaking even over a reasonable period is about as much as you'd hope for, but the maintenance will mug you at the same time

Yep. And neither of those are exec cars.Surrey Sam wrote:RS2 and the B7 RS4 is about the best of the bunch.bam_bam wrote:Nope.

RS2, B5 RS4, R8 and to some extent the B7 RS4 are 'investment' considerations.
The C5 RS6 might appreciate or be an investment in rare circumstances, I personally think the packaging and the gearbox issues knock it out as a great modern classic.
My money is on R8V8 Gen 1 manuals, they'll appreciate faster than the B7s, a couple of years ago you could find a glut of them for £35k, now, you'd be lucky to see many under £40k.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Can anyone consider RS6 C6 to be an investment grade car
Chancers will take a punt on them as they get older and cheaper.
But they will soon bail out when they experience running costs.
Looks like the bullet proof "C6" is finally succumbing to age with a lot of expensive failures and unexpected costs.
I loved mine but times move on and I wouldn't have another knowing what I know now.
And....the one mentioned above for sale at £41k...supposed to be a 10 plate plus?...why has it got pre facelift rear lights?....(only an RS nerd like me!)

Apart from "maybe"the first RS2....I don't class any of the RS models future classics.
As already said don't buy cars thinking your some kind of "classic car guru" and think you'll make money!!
Drive the dam things like there suppose to be and enjoy them....then move to the next one.

they have genuinely not depreciated a penny for 4 years now, and are on the rise as good ones become rarer and rarer
Re: Can anyone consider RS6 C6 to be an investment grade car
Nonsense, loads of cars are going up in value, and some are better than money in the bank, the best bit is you get to drive around in them too.Jim Haseltine wrote:Anybody who buys a car as an investment is either an idiot or has more money than sense.

So back to the thread, the C6, it has the making as we wont see anything like these again, but for now. Nope
