Post by iconic78 » Wed Dec 14, 2016 6:39 am

Just saw this and made me think why did i bother with Supercharger..

They claim all standard ecu and engine.

Anyone have any thoughts about all this??

The added cost of a turbo set up is a bit pointless imo. Rs4's run very high compression which is not good for running boost. Superchargers dont run as much boost as turbo so wont be as bad for the engine as turbos. Having said that this set up is only running at 11 psi for 560whp, if compression was lowered id say the engine would be good for silly power as its a closed deck block and pistons, crank and rods and all forged

I know a lot of the lads on the R32oc golf forum used a spacer between head and block to lower compression as the vr6 was relatively high compression too.

With our weather over here and our particularly bumpy roads would the turbos be vulnerable in their position?

That's not really true - you choose your boost level with both but turbos are capable of making more power at the same boost level due to lower parasitic losses.

The reason they don't make sense on RS4s is practicality and cost/benefit. Not much point paying 2-3x more and fabricate a huge amount of stuff to end up not that much higher than a simple SC can do.

You can regulate boost on both set ups. Im saying its pointless for the extra cost and only using 11 psi on turbos

Looks and sounds awesome, would not mind taking it for a spin. However, 26k seems abit overkill.... For that kind of money you can buy another RS4....

Is that $26k usd?

A built engine would be pretty impressive though.

That 26k was for the kit only, I would imagine a built engine would be the same again.

As chriswhite1992 said it's pointless IMO to spend that kind of money on a twin turbo kit to run low boost to safeguard the engine, and it's not cost effective to really build the engine to take the boost that a turbo kit could push.

Also for all the extra fabrication and cash that twin turbo kit has only managed to shave a tenth of a second or so off and add a couple of mph to the trap speed on the 1/4 mile over jhm's stage 1+ supercharger kit.

Then there's a whole other conversation about lag and power delivery, throttle response ect...I think the centrifugal supercharger kits are a perfect match for the high revving 4.2 rs4 engine, instant linear power all the way to redline...a perfect match.

Thats where i saw it. I spoke to them awhile ago about superchargers an there was a brief mention of it then. Hope they do come up with somthing it would be good to have different options.

Yeah the guy who owned that car almost killed some girl and left her badly burned even her lungs. The impact made the car fly through the air before exploding.
