Taking on a 90k Mile C6

Post by Bucks108 » Fri Sep 30, 2016 4:54 pm

Hi all,

Still looking for a C6 RS6 Avant and a friend of a frown has a black one with white leather.

Options are:
Privacy glass
Advanced parking system
TV reception
Digital radio

It's done 90k and he only wants £20k for it. I was hoping to find something with 60-70k miles but all the ones for sale at the moment with that kind of miles are £25-27k. What do I need to be careful of with a car with this sort of mileage on? Is it worth the £5k saving, bearing in mind it will be my daily drive? I had prepared myself to spend £25-26k but to get one for £20k is very tempting!

I plan on keeping it for a few years so it'll probably have 120 - 130k on by the time I sell it. Are the higher mileage cars much harder to sell?

Any advice greatly appreciated.

There are loads of threads in the forum - search oil leak/seal, coolant pipes both of those are engine out jobs £2.5k minimum. Look at suspension, brakes, basically go through the car with a fine tooth comb.

There is no such thing as a cheap C6, this is a £85k car with bills to match. MPG you be looking at figures in the mid-teens so get to know your local shell/Tesco garage well you will be visiting them regularly.

But when you hit the loud peddle and everything is going into reverse it's not so bad :-)

Buy it at 20k and keep 5k to the side for a fail safe. if it needs the seals or pipes needing done 2 birds one stone ( get both jobs done if engine out ) cross that bridge if it comes to it. I keep seeing your posts and tempted to sell you mine as I'm scanning auto trader day and night looking at other cars. The rs6 is pretty built proof £800 for 4 tyres and £1100 discs and pads all round. Keep oil levels topped up and only other costs are fuel. I don't find it that expensive I use it daily and done 4k in 3 months

What's the details of your car Stu? I'm going to have a look at this black one on Tuesday evening but if it turns out to be no good is it worth us having a chat?
