Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Hi all
Just a quick question, has anyone bought a cabriolet and regretted it afterwards?
Ive found a 2006 sprint blue with fbsw and wingbacks decemt mileage (60k) lots of history from mrc and unit for drc carbon clean etc seems to tick all the boxes
I was initially look for a saloon but just cant find one that suits but given this seems like a car with good history im very tempted
Thoughts please
Thanks
Jason

Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
I thought about one when i bought my Avant, there are pros and cons, but if id found the right one i would have bought one. I was put of by the large numbers of owners, couldn't seem to find one with less than 6. They aren't as good a drive as the other two but you do get to hear the glorious noise coming out of the back better..
Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Just my 2cents worth.
But think the convertible rs4,s look ugly duno what it is as the
Same car , but without the roof ?
They look wrong with roof up & wrong with roof down .
But that's my personal preference .
If it ticks the right boxes for you go for it , your get a cracking car

Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Had my RS4 cab for 3 years and loved every minute of it - roof down at every opportunity sounds awesome and driving through some fantastic countryside/ hills it doesn,t get any better but as with every RS4 history/proper maintenance is key!
I am currently looking to change to an S5 cab purely for the extra oomph as unless you spend £££££ on a s/charger you will very quickly want something to stop warm hatches biting at your a**e!!
As a result my rare Imola yellow one is up for sale on pistonheads at present. It has wanted for nothing as I am very OCD with my motors ie Stage 2 Milltek New Oil cooler / clutch all the big bills done for the foreseeable and loads of extras worth a cheeky look !
Personally comfort seats ( heated / electric ) are much better on a cab and easier to hop in the back 4 up.

Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Did somebody say RS4 Cab?!!
I think I've had enough of them to know my way around them.
If you're not planning on tracking your car and you don't need an 'estate'
and you enjoy the V8 growl, then the Cab is the way to go
You still get a comfortable 4 seat c.400brake 4wd V8 car with the option of extra noise (roof down) when you want
If you want see what a well maintained RS4 looks like, see my ad in the for sale section or feel free to PM for more info

Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Hello,
I've owned my RS4 B7 cabriolet for about 18 months now. I'm the sixth owner and bought it at 39K miles (which I checked and checked and it seems genuine) and it now shows 52K.
Brilliant car, I love it.
Has all the vulnerable points of the saloon and avant and I've had most (leaking oil cooler, aux radiator etc).
One vulnerable point on the cabriolet is the roof mechanism as the RS4 allows the roof to be operated at up to 30mph although I'd avoid anywhere near that speed if you value your roof motor. If the roof mechanism has any stutter or slowness then it will almost certainly be the motor brushes and don't let any one convince you to spend more than a few hundred on it (Audi quoted me for a new complete roof mechanism at £'000s) as http://www.autoelectron.co.uk/ will fix it for less than that.
There's a good choice of late low mileage cabriolets for top money at the moment and all the buying guide points are valid in the main.
You lose boot space with a cabriolet but get a decent fitted luggage set made for the rear seats and tour away!
PM me if you want anymore of my experience but I don't regret buying mine for a minute!
Good luck
Lady P

Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
Hi!
I have to say sadly, I'll be selling my 2007 Mugello Blue Cab very soon....It looks as though I'm being shipped abroad with work.
The car is absolutely stunning in every aspect. I've just had a professional Paint Restoration (Machine Polish)....purely because I wasn't completely satisfied with the paint, money well spent as it's now like glass to the touch and the shine is extremely deep. Mugello is a fairly rare colour by all accounts, a cab Mugello even rarer.
Full Audi Serv History and showing 87k. It's had 2 previous owners, and it really is immaculate inside. Sports seats as opposed to wing-backs but this was through my personal preference as I use it daily and often travel long distance. What a car, to echo previous comments, the noise in "Sport" with the top off is sublime and an instant warm smile ensues!
If you would like any more details, including some pictures, please email me: neal_johnson1973@yahoo.co.uk
Regards,
JJ.

Lady P, have you had fitted luggage made? If so where from? And pictures please. Cheers
Re: Contemplating buying RS4 Cab...
I've had my cab for just over 2 years now. Originally I wanted the Avant but I already had an estate. One of the annoyances I found after buying it, and I never realised it before was the cabs have the older dash with the circular vents, its not a big thing but wish I'd realised before. Also, its heavy, over 2 tonnes - I think the salon is about 1.6? someone will come and correct me no doubt.
It is seriously good to drive on a hot (semi hot, even raining) day though, and you really can hear that exhaust note.

If it's a tabby cat, I'm ok with that. If it's a bit leopardy, I could be in jeopardy!
