RS6/7 have always been slosh.

Double clutch, not sequential. New RS4 is going to be ZF8 too. It's not hard to see why. New gearbox required and post dieselgate compromise is required. Panamera is a 100k car, RS4 isn't.

I wouldn't bank on it. I'm sure we've alreayd had this conversation in this thread but V6 'Rarris of yesteryear used t osound amazing.
And the 5 pot RS3 sounds better than the V8 RS6 straight from factory. Audi has finally seen sense and their 2 latest sport offerings both sound amazing from the factory (RS3 & R8 V10+). A V6 RS4 could sound amazing too and I think it will.

And I love the slushbox in my 6. I prefer it to the dual clutch RS3 box.

Steady on, RS3 sounds OK but it's not a patch on the V8.

Slush suits the RS6, though a double clutch would be snappier. Personally I think it'll be a bit pedestrian for the RS4 which clearly has been compromised on development.

Straight from the factory the RS3 is head and shoulders better than the RS6 in terms of sound. Even with some aftermarket exhausts on the 6 the 3 is still comparable.

Spoke to my dealer in depth today about my options now my RS's PCP ends in December. He told me he attended a meeting at Audi UK yesterday where they all talked timescales of forthcoming products.

With the S4 only just opened for order, various shortage of parts supplies, and the TTRS delayed for ordering, Audi are severely behind schedule. With that in mind they have three new RS products to roll out. The order of the releases hasn't been 100% decided yet but from all the discussions its looking very likely it'll be as follows. Brace yourself.... he told me they have pencilled in Summer Q317 for RS4 detail reveal and Q417 for ordering to be open!

So quite a wait.

Not in a million years. I've said it before in this thread (and others) - you only have to look at the previous model life cycle history to see the RS4 is way off. The S4 has only been driven by journos and has only just hit the config (God knows when customer cars will arrive) The B5 took 5.5 years to arrive, the B7 5 years, the B8 4.5 years - the B9 isn't suddenly going to materialise in 2 years

I drove the new Alfa Guila QV on Saturday.

They sounded ok on the outside - could barely hear it inside.

Not a patch on V8 in mine

You say that, but the RS5 has now been spotted testing in undisguised mule form...

Couple this with the reports that Audi are planning on bringing it out much earlier in the cycle, I think the timeframes are a real possibility. I'd also add that my dealer is the same one that gave me all the SQ7 info that people on here dismissed, but it all ended up to be true.

And what about if you look at the last RS products and their release dates.....? I'm not doubting you Ian, just looking at more recent facts. Weren't the RS3 & RSQ3 been released sooner?

*EDIT - in fact, RS7, RS6, RS3 & RSQ3 have all been launched prior to the facelift model being released...... Just saying.
It's all torque talk.

Smudge, the B7 and B8 RS4s were also released prior to face-lift.

The B8 RS4 is the facelift...so cant really be classed as pre facelift, can it?

By B8 RS5 has two versions, a pre and post facelift...so can agree on that one...

has anyone been on this to look back at the rumours from B7 to B8...quite fun to read all the "facts" presented by "experts"...

v6 twin turbo is my favourite...
