Devastated - car going to the scrap yard in the sky!!!
Re: Devastated - car going to the scrap yard in the sky!!!
Cheers Sam and Faisal.
Just got my fingers and toes crossed for a decent outcome now. Paid obscene amount in insurance over the years and now it's time to hopefully make the most of it I guess.
House wasn't to bad Faisal. We have a 3 storey house and on the bottom level is the garage, my workshop and 3 large rooms which we are using as storage currently. Load of wrecked power tools and and other bits and bobs but nothing to life changing.
Our street has been a hive of activity since Tuesday with various different companies in various peoples houses sorting flood damage. Apparently this is the worst our neighbour has seen in his 55 years in his house so hopefully it's just a freak incident!!!
Will be sure to keep this thread updated

A friend of mine had his evo 6 stolen and they offered next to nothing for it so he emailed them about 10 similar cars for sell and asked how he was going to replace it with the money offered. After a bit of wrangling his offer was upped a fair bit.
Fingers crossed its a cat D and and an easy fix and with the change you can fit a supercharger
Yeah I preparing for some haggling already lol. We will see!!.

Make sure the insurance give you a good settlement. I really feel for you. Keep us posted mate.

Re: Devastated - car going to the scrap yard in the sky!!!
Thanks again guys. Appreciate your kind comments
Yes I had no claims cover so that's one saving grace. Typically though this will be my second claim in 4 months after a woman kindly ploughed into my other A to B car (no fault claim) so I know I will still feel the burden of having 2 claims come renewal time.
Oh well. It's all metal and money and can (and will) be replaced.
perhaps this is an opertunity to go for a supercharged example,,,,,, if I can afford the insurance lol

Bummer! I was expecting to read a tale of aquaplaning and frantic steering, finishing off with a sudden stop. Hope it works out ok for you.

Sorry to read this Richie. Glad you and the family are okay, hope the house isn't too bad
Me trying to find the positive in every negative - time to buy a quattro Avant SNOTTER to run around in for a while and take things to the tip whilst you search for your next S / RS.....

Gutted for you mate. Did you not consider finding a friendly paint Shop and asking them to stick it in their booth for a couple hours to see if the electrics dried out?
Id have tried everything before ringing the insurance.

Ian. A Snotter might be on the cards at this point but I still have my other pride and joy (Peugeot 206) to get around in lol.
Jay. Unfortunately I have no such connections here and in the aftermath of the flood, trying to sort things like this as well as all the home insurance stuff, whilst trying to clean up, I just didn't have the time. I think if it was just the car then I would have perhaps gone about it differently!!!
