Has anybody had any issues with loose heat shields around the exhausts? The 4 sections over the rear backboxes have perished where the nut/washer goes through. I've tried using a larger washer to hold them together, but the studs have lost their threads due to the rust.
Has anybody got any work arounds? I.e riveting them to the underside? Or shall I just stump up and buy new heat shields. Any idea of the costs (I presume there will be some RS tax applied?)
Exhaust heat shields
Re: Exhaust heat shields
Sadly it's common on most cars due too the aluminium heat shield touching the steel fixing . Causes galvanic corrosion. Really wouldn't recommend drilling and riveting the underside . I'd just be looking too replace the Shields myself. As for the fixings u can either grind them off and tac weld a new stud on or use a riv nut insert and bolt them on .
