Sorry, i seem to have created an argument!
My dad's is a Gen 1 991 so the naturally aspirated model.
A bit like the 911 Turbo vs R8 V10+ debate, in the 'real world' the 911 will be quicker because it is turbocharged. No downshifts needed, it will just go in any gear.
As Jeremy Clarkson once said, these days you need a REALLY, REALLY quick car to embarrass your average car these days. The turbocharged 2.0TDI repmobiles will get to 120mph easily and have that in-gear shove to accelerate rapidly between 65-85mph whilst you are left fumbling for the right gear in the likes of a B8 RS4 (or any other naturally aspirated sports car). Yes, they run out of puff pretty quickly, but that means you have to be doing well over 100mph to actually demonstrate your RS4 is quicker.
Not knocking the RS4, but it's just a reason why i love the RS6 - any time, any place, it's laugh out loud quick!
