Re: This forum ?
Ah that was fun.
So the launch control is hysterical! Made me jump the first time! Never used that before.
Active cruise. Wow what a feature! Love it. Great for 30mph roads with speed cameras as well as basically every other road!
Sport mode.... It's very nice most of the time but I need to use the flappy paddles as it changes gear mid corner on a neutral throttle! Not great timing...
DAB radio is rubbish, hardly gets a station! Never had this before. Will have a look into it...
I'm still not sure though what the auto settings do in the individual. So suspension is the one I'm thinking, is dynamic hard and comfort soft while auto flicks between the two?

I never use auto as I want to know how the throttle and suspension is going to behave as I throw it into a bend.
Re: This forum ?
I set everything to dynamic suspension to Auto, comfort is way too soft...dynamic too harsh!! unless you are on very good RD surfaceough what the auto settings do in the individual. So suspension is the one I'm thinking, is dynamic hard and comfort soft while auto flicks between the two?

So is auto a third setting then? It's not just switching between them both?RIV wrote:I set everything to dynamic suspension to Auto, comfort is way too soft...dynamic too harsh!! unless you are on very good RD surfaceough what the auto settings do in the individual. Pics of your cleaning efforts please Alex? I need to validate your methods and best practices.
Auto sets the setting based on your driving style. I can't remember how I had individual set on yours Alex, but think it was dynamic on engine and exhaust for noise, dynamic steering as I like it heavy not flaky soft like in comfort, but suspension in auto as a middle ground (again, soft is too soft really unless you're on a cruise on the motorway, and dynamic will knock your teeth out over cats eyes).

Re: This forum ?
My current favoured ADS (Audi Drive Select) Individual setup is:
Engine/Gearbox - Auto
Having Dynamic all the time is a bit much for me. As I often potter around in ADS Individual for some part of the journeys that I do and like a bit more mediation in the throttle pedal. Auto gives me just that, yet does a really good job of reacting to your driving style as well. Then if I want the gearbox a bit more sporty but not going as far as full manual (which I do prefer for pressing on) then you can just pull back the lever into Sport.
Suspension Control - Auto
Dynamic is stiff but not badly so in my opinion - I do came from having the firmer Super Sports Suspension option on my previous B7 RS4's though. Comfort is great for just that but on the ADS Individual mode I want the best of both worlds and Auto does this really well for me. The car is continually evaluating all the data from various sensors and can adapt in milliseconds and on a fair amount of B-road blasts, I have never felt the suspension in Auto to be caught out with incorrect damping rates. If I really want full maximum attack, I can then just select full Dynamic in the ADS but to be honest I never feel the need to with the current Individual ADS setup I have.
Dynamic Steering - Auto
Dynamic is just too heavy for me around town and slow speeds. If I had Ceramic brakes fitted (which I want) that may change as there is less un-sprung weight perhaps making it a tad lighter. Comfort is a bit scary when pressing on though, so I find that Auto is surprisingly good at delivering suitable weight at any given speed and driving demeanour.
Sport Differential - Dynamic
Not really experimented in other modes, as I just want it to do its job all the time. It does this well and is a lovely feature over the previous generation B7 RS4.
Exhaust - Dynamic
Currently I have the Audi sports exhaust and find this nice. When I transport other people around in the car, I just put ADS into Comfort which will quieten and soften everything. Once the Akrapovic exhaust is fitted though I may change this to another mode?
Adaptive Cruise Control - Auto
I don't like Dynamic for this feature, as I find it too jerky/aggressive when accelerating back up to speed. Comfort also seems too slow and often cars will pull back out on you, as the system has not really re-acted enough to get you past them. Auto seems about right so far, but I want to test this more as I find setting different distances has a minor change on the modes behaviour.

Re: This forum ?
So , in a nutshell , we should hust leave everything set to auto yeah ? Presumably , if you turn onto a quiet twisty road and wanna play with a heavy foot , it will put everything into dynamic for you ? And visa versa of course ...?

Re: This forum ?
So I've been out today and basically yep, I think I've ended up with the same as you have above. Only difference is exhaust is in comfort most of the time with the jcweld exhaust and I've got the steering on dynamic, but I've been mainly a roads and motorways today visiting family.
And... 25mpg! Lots of motorway in there but even with a lot of a blasts in sport I'm impressed.
And yes, need to get used to manual as the sport auto doesn't change timely enough to be smooth. Left down, right up?

Re: This forum ?
I run Auto steering, Dynamic engine sounds (although I do most of my driving in D, and if I'm pushing on, just use the paddles), suspension in comfort
The dymanic suspension set up works well on the track, but the roads around here are no way in good enough condition for the dynamic setting as I value my fillings
