Impressive stuff - specially considering how quick a R8 plus is.

All about turbo vs NA. And it looks like the RS6 driver got his foot down first. As soon as the R8 hits its revs it's a non-contest.

You would think a turbo would be lagging behind until it kicked in?????

A 1980s turbo, maybe.

I don't think it was so much as case of him getting his foot down quicker, it was probably more of a case of him being unable to hold it on the brake any longer with no true launch control, but he clearly went off first.
Nice to a a PE in some drags though as there has been very little so far. It would be interesting to see a non-PE against a PE in a drag race to see if there is any real workd difference; we already know there is little difference in peak power outputs.

...based on a sample size of 'how many' ? One ? :)

I mean I probably agree with you - there may not be a massive difference in peak power, but I need to see a bit more evidence to 'know' that there isn't.

Pushing my PE a little over the last couple of days, it definitely feels a little quicker to me. But there's nothing empirical in that, I am not sure that it is. Maybe it's the pzeros ! :)

I'd agree, RS6 definitely jumped the start.

Get yours down to MRC to increase the sample size.

I can scan my dyno graph later so if anybody has a graph for a standard non PE car then you can compare the whole range and not just peak power.

If you read the comments on YouTube, Mat (the driver) has responded saying he wasn't jumping the start, and that they should have shown the countdown for the viewers.
Nonetheless, it is a good race :)

I would also like to see a race between a standard RS6 and a RS6 PE.

The problem with a lot of cars with launch control is that the reaction time is not actually that that good. Whilst the 0-60 is great on paper, i find there is a lag before setting off.

So I guess with the RS6 you are just stamping on the brakes with the left foot and try to maintain some revs with your right? I've never tried 'launching' it. Please share your secrets of success!

It's exactly that with the RS6, with it being slosh-o-tronic there's no map for launch.

Your GT3 should be OK, though nothing compares to the TTS, that is utterly brutal. On gen 2, all you do I flick to Sport+, stamp on both pedals, then release the brake. Face ache follows soon after.
