Yes they are OEM ones, but there are plenty of plastic audi ones with carbon skin for a lot less but I haven't seen many pure carbon ones other than the audi ones. But obviously the audi ones are a lot more money.
I noticed most of the aftermarket front splitters had a diagonal weave but the oem one has a straight weave.

Carbon is not something I like the look of (reminds me of the whole 1980/90s stick on aftermarket bits), but my son is quite into to it. So we got his mirror caps and a few other bits wet dipped by Wicked Coatings. Top notch job, very authentic looking- they have a wide range of patterns and shades/colours of carbon and confirmed that they can do an "Audi Pattern" and colour. Nothing will beat the original, but it is not as if the weight saving of genuine carbon makes a blind bit of difference on a 2T car.

There are some on eBay from Hong Kong for £180. Might be worth a punt?!

Personally, if I wasnt getting oem ones I'd go for one of the respected companies. Theres some German company that does them on ebay and look very good.
And personally I wouldnt bother with the dipping stuff as to me it just doesnt look like real carbon.

Actually, having read the listing, they openly admit that the carbon fibre may not be very good. Not selling it to me! Will keep an eye out for some OEM ones...

Those hong Kong ones might not be very good but there are still some very good skinned ones available for about 4or 5 hundred.

If anyone is going to take their mirrors apart I can highly recommend the auction lifters I bought. The big ones might just fit but I got a double small pair for less than 10 pound from Amazon.

Wicked Coatings are amazingly good - and cheap.

MikeFish wrote:Si, I had the front bumper, front wings, bonnet, Wing mirrors, headlights, front splitter, front flaps and Grill surround all protected. This was £750 but the car also had a new car detail and full gtechniq protection applied at the same time so there was no cleaning or prep work required by the protection guy. I also paid another £20 for a strip along the top of the rear bumper.
He used a mixture of 3M and suntek film as one 1 of them is better for contoured areas like the bumper but the other gives a better shine for flat areas like the wings and bonnet. Also a slight difference in the self healing abilities.
Thanks for the info Mike. Whereabouts was it done? That's about half the price I was quoted, so I'll definitely be looking a bit further afield.

Like I said, I think the price was low cos I spent a load on having a detail at the same time which meant the prep work for the wrapper was non-existant.
However, the wrap is guaranteed for 5 years and I had a bit of lift on the plastic grill and one of the flaps but it was replaced with no quibbles staright away. I am more than happy to recommend either the detailer (Aaron at Deep Impact Detailing) or the wrapper (Jarrod at Bodygurad UK). They both work out of the same unit so makes things very easy if having a detail and wrap together. Both of them are very nice blokes and very accomodating and I am more than happy going back for more work.

These Raywell ones look good for £500. These are OEM plastic caps that have been carbon skinned so will fit perfectly.
And the weave is going in the same direction as OEM caps so look authentic.

These ones are from a germany comapny that looks to make good quality stuff but in one of the photos the weave looks like it is the same on both mirrors rather then them being mirror opposites like the OEM ones if that makes sense.

These ones are eve ncheaper at about £312 but the weave looks to be at the wrong angle comapred to OEM ones if that bothers you.

If I couldn't get OEM ones for the right price I'd be going for the Raywell ones. I've used Raywell for my black badges and would be happy to use them again for the mirrors.
