Not happy at all....

Post by vestax32 » Thu May 05, 2016 7:12 pm

So, as you know, I bought a used C7 with 58k on the clock for £44,000 from Belfast Audi. It was delivered on the 19th April. This is the list of issues with Belfast Audi and with the car I have had so far;

- Car arrived with no number plates. When I rang and asked what was going on I was told that they didn't know what had happened and they would be put in the post. Arrived days later so I had to have my own plates made up in order to use the car.
- The paperwork (V5, receipt of purchase, warranty info etc) arrived in three different envelopes, all on different days and well after the car had arrived, so I couldn't tax it.
- Although under manufacturers warranty until the end of July they did not MOT the car before delivering it to me. Surely no self respecting dealership would sell an Approved Used Audi with only 2 months remaining until the MOT?
- The windscreen was cracked in the bottom right hand corner. This could of happened in transit, but I doubt it.
- Had a few stone chips which had been touched in, but front end not resprayed. Not sure if they should/would usually do this?
- The drivers seat is 'rocking' slightly, as if the runners are worn. They may not have noticed this as I didn't notice for a couple of days.
- I asked for a second years extended warranty as part of the deal which they agreed to. When I received the paperwork it was an aftermarket 'Auto Protect' warranty, which after some research on the internet I found to be total sh*t, and not worth the paper its written on, despite the salesman trying to tell me it was exactly the same as the Audi extended warranty. Its supposed premium is £780, at least half what the proper warranty would have cost.
- I had a 4 wheel laser alignment done, always do when buying a (new to me) vehicle. All 4 wheels a fair way out.

So, with many phone calls back and forth the following transpired;
- Was told to sort the windscreen through my own insurance and they would pay the excess. Fine. Ring Autoglass. As the car has adaptive cruise they cannot do it at home and car has to go to a centre over an hour away from where I live and they have to have it for the whole day. Ring Belfast Audi back and say I am not happy as will have to take a day off work etc, they need to sort it at my local Audi dealership. They say no as Audi charge £1500 to recalibrate so they will send someone to pick my car up, take it for the repairs at Autoglass and drop it back. I say Im not happy with a random bloke driving my car so I will take it but want to be compensated. They offer £300 which includes the £75 excess. This doesn't cover me having a day off work, but I accept.
- I say I am not happy with the aftermarket warranty and the service manager offers me the cost (to them £600) of the premium back to put towards renewing the proper warranty myself in a years time. I accept, but not happy.
- I demand that they pay for the MOT to be done at my local Audi dealership, and book it in for the MOT and to investigate the driver seat 'rocking'. It went in today. Had a phone call late afternoon. They have ordered parts to fix rocking seat, and have done a health check. Found an oil leak. Investigated further, faulty oil pump. To fix....wait for it.....engine and gearbox out, Audi book time of 28 hours. Will be without the car for at least 10 days. They said there is no way it has developed in the time I have had the car, and must have been obvious (if anyone even looked) before the car was delivered to me.

So, to say I am pissed off is an understatement. I don't want to return the car as I am happy with it, but the service I have received has been absolutley shocking. Im trying to decide how I am going to deal with this, and would like advice from you guys. Should I be demanding some kind of compensation? Who should I make official complaints to?

Pretty Crap matey.

This is the problem buying a car without seeing it and also having no face to face interaction with a salesman I'm afraid.

Deal will have been done....salesman rubbing his hands as he's hit his targets, already got his commision spent, on to the next sucker on line or in showroom.....quick "get that RS ready for delivery John"..."give it a wash and send it on its way"

Little things that mean a lot to the likes of us BUT fuak all to a salesman totally forgotten.

Dealer will have know about problems BUT because your so far away take their chances and fob you off hoping you'll go away.

Said it before...Audi have no idea at all how to treat customers at this price point and so called pinnacle of their ranges.

Good luck getting it sorted matey....and keep us up to speed with oil leak!!(not another 53p seal I hope) :audibash:

Return the car. It's a lemon. Distance selling act should cover.

You will not get back compensation to cover the grief. Horse is several fields away.

Unfortunately this is what I've come to expect of the Audi dealer network on average.

I nearly returned the car after the warranty issue, and they were prepared to have it picked up, so don't think it would be an issue. Thing is, I don't want to return it as it was a good £11000 cheaper than any other which suited my budget as could then pay cash.

At the end of the day, all the work will be done under warranty a car will be ship shape when I get it back, but I must say, the majority of dealings I have had with the Audi dealership network have been f*cking terrible. They need to have a serious rethink.....

You have to ask why it was 25% cheaper than anything else.

I'd dump it while you can.

The dealer network are by a large part a reflection of AUK who I've also found to be a shower of <beep>.

They have some good products but have no idea how to manage the product or the customers buying the product. This is a large part in my looking elsewhere.

Agree with Doodle on rejection.

I know it's easy for me to say....especially after the emotion of doing the deal and sorting everything out...then getting car etc etc.

I'd reject also to rub dealers nose in it for f@@king you about....simples.

Another car will come along.....something that ain't an Audi!!!

Agreed. Dealers won't learn until customers start dumping the <beep> they've been sold back on their doorstep.

Id say the price was in line with the mileage. I don't think I will return the car as any issues will be sorted free of charge, but you're right, does make you think. When you say looking elsewhere, do you mean changing brand?

Well, I think your barmy. Having Audi remove the engine and gearbox at this stage is pretty big. I'd not take that on the chin. You'll get no more than the work covered putting you back in the position you would have been in. Doesn't remove the grief, lost time at work etc etc. In fact it'd put me right off the car.

You've been fobbed off on the warranty too, that's going to cost you. At least 500 notes I'd reckon.

I can understand your view point doodlebug, and I am considering my options. And I know £600 won't cover the renewal of extended warranty. Am going to sleep on it and readdress tomorrow.

Am just amazed at the complete and utter incompetence, and disregard shown for the customer. I used to be a BMW man, and although I had the odd f*ck up with them, the customer service I experienced was a lot better overall...

The work shy flankers want taking to task delivering the car like they did and selling it with the issues you've now got IMO.

Fair play it warranty work BUT the supplying dealer wants a bollocking big time....someone must have a contact at Audi UK you can take this up with?....and get some one an arse knocking at Belfast Audi.

Don't agree to have anything else done or accept anything else until you've sat and evaluated your position?...as it may put a spanner in the works for your rejection should you go down that path?

Once theve had that engine and gearbox out, you'll need that Additional warranty next year!!! :audibash:

Get rejected...get your poke back...take a deep breath....reflect on your circumstances.....Shop around for another if you still want a 6....or jump into another marque.

Not a bad call. I'd draw up a list of pros and cons if you're undecided.
