Shinobi - Thats a bit extreme but fair play! :D

So a quick update on the brakes and handling

Handling - Over the last two lovely days I've been hooning around trying to find what works, doesn't work or is different with the handling. Off power going into a corner the car still handles as it did at Stage 2 which is unsurprising, however powering out the corner is completely different. Previously I found the car reacted best to off power entry at the start of the corner followed by slight acceleration at around 1/3 - 1/2 way through the corner with full throttle from 1/2 way to the exit causing no issues unless the corner was tight. Now I'm finding that the extra power at full throttle is pushing from the rear so much it's causing the fronts to understeer and washout which I've not had happen at Stage 2 and I've found I have to wait longer (until the road is a little straighter) before I can go full throttle.

Brakes - They're still coping with B-Road blasts no problem but if you were on a wider straighter "track" for example and constantly heavy braking from say 140+ to 40 about 10 times in a row as you overtake spread out slower drivers then they end up glowing a lovely shade of dull red when you check them after smelling burning metal :D.

They still work which is handy but my disc is now overheating (nice blue colour).

Niiiice, you certainly kept quiet, I only spotted your amended signuature recently on the dyno day thread :P

I'm looking at doing a snetterton track day soon, probably not for you on account of the brakes, but could always meet up for a drive or drink maybe. Or give me a shout if you're ever this way ;)

What a captivating read for a dull, overcast bank holiday morning.
It's truly brightened up my day, and reenergised my lust to have a quick car again.

I do like your progression, and attention to detail.

A wise move replacing the good but well used components too

Interesting reading about your brakes, many years ago, I an AP Racing 6 pots on my Evo 6 and found them to be equally as good, and even when they're "quite warm" they still performed impeccably (even on ATE blue) but the pedal feel did get a slight amount of sponginess to it.
Looking forward to reading about the 410 upgrade.

I love the OEM appearance to you car too, some subtle changes and upgrades which set the car apart from the rest.

What suspension are you running ?

IanH755 wrote:Vids - I'd love to but I can't do another "speedo only" vid (like my stage 2 0-206mph vid) until I go back over to Germany and I can't really do a "this is me overtaking at LOL speed but not showing the speedo" vid as there's just too much chance of it ending up on Facetube etc. I already got massive grief from the custom exhaust video on Youtube with people threatening to report me for speeding after they calculated (guessed) how fast I was going by counting the white lines per second and then getting a Streetview image to estimate the length of the white lines to work out the speed (unbelievably sad I know). I also got a lot of "Big Bore = Little Penis" messages too, thanks Dad :D
Who on earth is sad enough or has enough time in their day to decide that's what they will spend said time doing? what possibly can they achieve from this? :knob:

I look forward to your trip to the Autobahn then, probably not as much as you will though!

Not Normal - Stock suspension at the moment with H&R rollbars. I currently live in the countryside and have to use single track "farmers" lanes to reach my house so lowering via the KW adjustable springs is not an option and I'd want to know more about the adjustable KW "active" suspension struts (they keep the 3 in-car settings) as I use Dynamic "on the road" but Comfort on the 5 miles of countryside lanes I have to use so I'd like to keep that ability to adjust the suspension as I drive.

TobyRS4 - That guy's username was something like "SpeedKillsUIdiot" or similar and, considering I know what speed I was doing, his "estimate" (or lucky guess) wasn't far off! Some people just live to annoy others!

Oh... I haven't seen anything on the active kW v3 for the c6! I'm very interested if you get more information in your journey.

@ianh755 - I checked the KW website, for. KTH your application and mine, but the DDC isn't available for the RS6 or 3.0 TDi that I run at the moment

I'll email the, tomorrow, see if their is anything that can be done

KW DDC - I've sent them an e-mail but heard nothing back (thank you auto-reply only). If they aren't doing a DDC then it's not a big issue for me as I find the stock DRC is good enough.

I've read a number of RS5 owners suffering failing KW DDC dampers and KW's attitude towards replacement has been rather poor. If the OEM DRC is fine, stick with it

Hi Ian,

That's some write up, good to see so much detailed technical input and I sure this thread will run & run

It's what makes this forum site (in my opinion) the best

Your car on the last tunnel run before the latest mods turned my head towards the RS6... I think I will have to resist the next tunnel run for fear .....good luck and enjoy :biggrin3: :blackrs4:
