Anyone know if you can upgrade the gear knob to an S-tronic style one, like the one below?

Thanks mate. Any idea if I have to buy the whole unit, including the leather shift boot, or do I just need the knob? Is it DIY fit, or do I need special equipment/knowledge/skills?

I got the stick and gaiter from Germany as they were all out of stock here. Had to use my old gaiter as the new one was obviously the wrong side ( Left hand drive) I'm not that brave to mess with gear sticks as it needs to fit spot on its not just a screw on top. I got a specialist to do mine. To buy was about the same then £100 to fit. It really does up date the centre console
I also changed the start stop button and hand brake again just to update it a bit.

Can anyone recommend anyone who can do the gear knob swap, or has experience doing it? I have a new knob ready to fit, but no-one to fit it.

Thanks!

Braved it myself in the end, few heart in mouth moments, but turned out well in the end. Looks soooo much better than the standard knob, brings the interior bang up to date.

I recommend it!

Yes, but with an RS logo as in the picture in my first post. Takes about 45 mins.

Heya,

Just did mine, together with a facelifted startbutton.
Was hoping to do the P-brake button as well, but realizing this is a "console off" job I will wait.
I wanted to share this video if ever anyone tried this themselves and activated the button prematurely.... (That *NEVER* happens to me... ehum... :bash: )

And the mandatory before/after, or it didn't happen:

Not a big difference, but a nice touch up and fresh feel. Happy.

Nice one - makes the car feel so much more up-to-date doesn't it? It should be a compulsory mod for all forum members! :D
