With no service history, assume the worst and expect to have to do a full 80K service straight away. I guess a budget of 2K should cover that.

Isn't a car of that age worth around 12K? If it's a personal import AND a repossession, then it should be significantly cheaper. 11K sounds too high to me. Offer them 9K and then play a waiting game...

If your still looking for an S4 Avant, this just came on ebay today,
but get an AA car check or Equiv. and check what company did the Chip.

Looks good though, but just looking at a picture, i could be wrong!

Looks very good, except I doubt the claim of "350bhp+" as I believe about 325 is tops without doing some serious RS4 style mods

lives2ride,

For a comparison 2 weeks ago I bought an S4 saloon 2000(x), 67k, bose, leather, wheels etc for £10800. It didnt have a service history from 45k onwards, for the same reason as the one your looking at, being repossessed some time in the past. I knew it was a risk buying, but it did come with a 6month RAC warrantee, and appeared to be excellent condition. Time will tell if it was a wise buy, but for the colour and options you may want from your S4, you could be waiting a long time for a nice one to come up. For me, I has waited long enough !

Certainly try knocking him down as much as possible in price, and get a thorough test drive.

Good luck.

Whatever happens, go with your instinct rather than your heart....there are loads of these cars with varying specs for sale and prices are starting to tumble so you can easily afford to be picky. All us of here have bad and good storeis about these cars but for sure, if it turns out to be a lemon it will be a very off-putting and expensive experience....these cars by-and-large should not be either....

I have noticed that too Rob - in less than a year since I bought mine, at least £2k has been wiped off S4 prices - bit scary really!

I couldnt have waited another 9 months to buy, but now wish I had.
