line on the wing where the film is. Generally you can't notice it at all unless you're really looking for it. :)
God that thing is really mint!!

Cheers Ross, my car is well overdue a detail, I would love to do this myself, however my life is so hectic ATM
I don't even have the time to even look into what's needed, maybe next year I will buy some kit and learn, you got it down to a tee I reckon

Has anyone else had stone chips that have actually dented the bonnet or wings? I washed the car yesterday and noticed a stone chip on one of the wings and it looks to have made a impression in the metal; something no chip stick or wrap is going to help with and I guess is one of the downsides of having thin aluminium at the front?

I paid £750 for my front end. But it was having a full detail at the same time by someone else (but shared unit) so the wrap guy didn't have to clean, clay bar, prep etc, just literally stick on the pre cut sheets.
But yes, 1.5k seems to be the norm.

Mine was just over a grand. Front half of wings, front bumper, full bonnet, wing mirrors.

Personally, i just get on with it and then when your done or sell it on, get it professionally detailed and itll be as good as new again.. Unless its chipped which a film does nothing about anyway

Lifes too short!

Eh?

My windscreen is shotblasted. The bumper / bonnet are mint. Film is what's kept it that way. Film is a no brainer.

Yep, same here - front + mirrors quoted at £1200+ VAT. On the face of it a fair chunk of cash but worth every penny for a clean front end. Can't wait....

After spending the last 6 years moaning about the stone chips on my 4, this is a great way to keep my front end looking new.

But you could have the whole front re-painted for less than that. And as the film isn't impenetrable and should it have to cover off I don't really see the benefit. I'll just get it painted.

What do you do when you get a stone chip driving home from the bodyshop? Turn around and hope for a discount for being a repeat customer?

The alternative is to get stone chips, live with it until it gets really unsightly and exceeds your tolerance for ugliness, then get it resprayed. Repeat this for lifetime of ownership. A wrap lasts the lifetime of the car. It adds value on resale, not detracts like stone chips. So you'd need to get it resprayed before selling it to retain resale value.

Which is a bit like knowingly getting your wife a tit job before she divorces you.

That's life. What happens when you peel off the vinyl and half the paint comes with it? Swings and roundabouts for me. I'll opt for paint and a surface that will take a polish. Polishing clingfilm is pointless.
