I dropped into Devon yesterday, they had a whole bunch of SW stuff but the shop looked like a Swatch franchise from the late 90s, not something I'd buy a £20k hand-clock from.
/EDIT it was Nixon. That makes more sense now.
That arrangement and outlet looks utter sh*te.

No way would I part with my cash based on that cabinet...

Lovely. Strap is stunning.

Nice moody shots set off that Speedy beautifully...

Hoping to pick your collective brain and general watch knowledge.

I've been looking at the new Tudor Pelagos with a black face and bezel as a daily wearer just wondering if anyone owns one. I know that the titanium and its plain face wont be to everyone's taste but I think it ticks a few boxes as a daily. especially now that it has tudors in house MT5612 caliber movement.

any feedback on how it stands up as a daily would be great. :thumb:

Bamf

Get a rolex sub, outlay is over tudor but what most people dont realise/appreciate is that ownership of certain fine time pieces is free.

A sub from the 1980's has appreciated 1000%

Buy right, buy once

s4won I hear what your saying with the buy right, buy once the sub is an awesome watch and something worth thinking about.

I'm not in a mad rush to buy so I will be looking at all the options. I need to find time to try on a few watches to see how they feel and wear. There are some great watches out there, the looks of the pelagos caught my eye and the lightness of the titainium but having said that after a while I would more than likely wish I'd spent that bit extra and have a submariner.

I'll have to get my arse in gear and get looking and trying a few watches.

If you can afford Tudor, push to a rolex sub

THIS.
I love Tudor for the 'knowing' and I respect people who wear one but I couldn't buy one because Rolex exist.
It's a 911 Carrera vs. a 911 Carrera S.

Also, Sea Dweller FTW - the perfect Rolly. Make mine a 1975 "Double Red" thanks.

Couldn't agree more, picked this up on Friday:

Tried a black face 14560 Explorer II and a 116610 "Hulk" before settling on this no-date Sub. Timeless piece, doubt i'll ever sell it! the bracelet is a masterpiece itself.

Tudor are good but it only makes mesne to buy older models like an early 90's Prince, you won't lose money on those.

Except for the clasp! Does it still look and feel like it's made from an old mackrel tin lid?

Not with these new ceramic maxi dial models, not at all, the glidelock clasp is a marvel of engineering (for a watch!), have a look at YouTube videos of it. The older 5 digit Rolex's however do have poor quality clasps, which is what I think you are referring to!

Yes, it's lovely but anyone dropping over £5k on a watch needs their head examined.
Really? Why? The same could be said of any luxury good or premium product. Namely CARS, which all of us on this forum love.
You're more sensible buying a 50k watch, which will pretty much never lose value, if not accrue it. Will next to never go wrong, and have more analogue yet complex engineering (that in most cases is over 100 years old) in its tiny shell than the almost any car will ever have in our life time. Compared to we lunatics that spend 50k on a car that loses value every second you own it, is made using a hoard of parts shared with Skoda and Seat and cars sold for nearly half the price of the equivalent Audi! Most of us Audi enthusiasts know this, yet still, here we are year on year buying our over priced, incessantly depreciating hunks of metal!

now that is a nice watch Chris. 'm jealous now :thumb:

Bam, S4won I know your both right regarding the rolex. I like the tudor for what it is, a top quality tool watch that is understated. But I agree that I will always be wanting the rolex.

I've always wanted to start putting together a decent watch collection and I'm finally at the stage with the business where I've finished investing in it and its grown to a level where i can start reaping the rewards. I can understand why some people can't see how you can justify having thousands of pounds worth of watches sitting waiting to be worn but if you can, why not.

I had the conversation with the wife the other day, shes of the cant get my head round spending that much on a watch camp, but when i did a rough add up of the jewlery and watch she was wearing at that particular time it hit the £2000 mark, with god knows how much sitting in a box at home. It soon killed the debate, and all with out any need to resort to man maths.
