Ferrari Golf - Boffs (wifes)

Post by boff » Tue Mar 08, 2016 8:21 pm

You should see the smile on my face right now!!

So as many of you do or don't know - with massive sadness I had to flog the RS4 B8LTD 9 months in to fund my business startup; obviously to cheer myself up the RS6 PE arrives in June. However in the meantime I have been gently driving my wifes 105Bhp Golf Plus.... yeah it took me a week to blow the turbo. Which was an inconvenience, hire cars have cost me a fortune etc etc.

So had to get the Golf fixed and I was bemused at why the S function didn't really mean S (It's a DSG). I did some research on the net and it appears that the block & tackle in this car is good for 300BHp......

.....in a beaten up Golf Plus - it's my sadly passed away father in laws old car, so i thought, sod it - he'd approve and used this as the cost justification to its owner. My wife.........

I've been using a Garage called Volks Autos on it in Sutton, they are just brilliant, they also run VAGPerformance, they also had the car as it is where it went when it broke.

Chris Called me up and said turbos blown, you need a new one, I said how much, he said x, I said - does that come with more power? he said no, I said, pointless. Lets look at more power.

Anyway I went down for an afternoon of theorising what we can do, we agreed more ish.... I know - and a bag of bits arrived:

Much Bigger VW Turbo, bolt on
New Downpipe
Braided Hoses
New injectors
EGR Delete
K&N Typhoon
3BAR MAP sensor?
DSG remap
DSG Torque limiter remove
DSG Launch Control Enable
Remap
Warm Start Code out
and a load of other bits.

It was finished today, drives very well I am told. Can't wait to have a crack, and I'll tell you all how it goes.

It should be 200BHp + circa 400lbft Torque - we'll let the rolling road judge that, there maybe final tweaks to do. Simple message if you Mrs drives a boring VW of either Petrol or Diesel flavour contact Chris at Volks Autos / VAGPerformance to give the old bird some new life..... (plan to have it "serviced" - he built this monster in 2 Days) They are a pleasure to deal with.

They also do a shed load of Audis - My RS's so far have been warrantied cars so I'm not one for messing with those.

I'll report back, in the meantime - some images!!!

You do realise this is gonna lead to some other under the covers mods, probably brakes, possibly wheels to fit over the brakes and bigger contact area, then I'm gonna need the paddles on the wheel..... bit of fun tho.

My Best man tells me I should be doing some stance junkie thingy?

Thing is If I could keep the wheels I will, but it's gonna need bigger brakes, defo. That leaves me with buying like the next VW original type up.

LOL, good work Boff. Yes, needs suspension and alloys orted. Then you can get in all the summer shows, like the one Cov didn't get into, was it E38?

Love this! Should keep it looking completely stock. New pads and better brake fluid is all the braking you'll need.

I kinda thought this may happen... so when the discs went a few months ago, I got proper either ferrodo or brembo OEM's fitted. Lets hope that's enough - I had the B8 wanting for better brakes.

It's a cracking little project tho!!!

I get back into it on Saturday. My wife has it until Friday, she collects it tomorrow!!! I'm told it may need better tyres than the westkings.....

She is clearly a woman of taste and what a tribute to her dad. I've never heard of Westkings- are they named after a cigarette because they smoke? Look forward to the road test report.

Fcuk the bhp, 400lbft of torque is sure to rip those match stick driveshafts out the gearbox and turn the clutches in to fag paper! Love it!!!

You know you can upgrade the clutches in the DSG don't you? I seriously don't think that DSG box will cope with it - I know many turbo R32's that needed worked boxes so they held together.
