Hi guys I've just had the first mot since buying my car back in November. Luckily a mate did it for me at his work otherwise it would of failed miserably on emissions. Where are and how many cats are ment to be on the car? It has a tony banks custom exhaust system on it which has been cut and welded on just before the bend up towards the engine. So just wondered if they had been cut off or if they are further up.
Cheers
Chris
MOT emissions test
Re: MOT emissions test
Originally it will have had 4. 2 pre-cats up near the top of the downpipe and 2 main cats after the flexis.Chris6 wrote: Where are and how many cats are ment to be on the car?
Pre-cats can be gutted or removed (as they do 4/5 of f**k all) and as long as the main cats are still there it will pass the MOT. If 100 cell 'race cats' are fitted it might be touch and go although warming them up beforehand can help.

Re: MOT emissions test
Thanks for your reply. My cats have been cut of then. It failed the emissions by a long way and it was nice and hot but his boss wasn't in so he let it pass so I have a year to get it sorted.
Re: MOT emissions test
...or a year to save up for a nice bottle of whisky and to find out what time his boss usually pops out for lunch.

Re: MOT emissions test
That would be a much better option
