As seen in the above picture. The corrosion bubbles up under the pad retention plates and bends them, which in turn causes the brake pads to pinch. The pad surfaces cannot then be evenly applied to the disc surface, causing uneven wear and under high load conditions, overheating. Both a recipe for disc warping.
Lightly brush off the brake dust and if you start to see any white'ish residue around the retention plates, or notice the retention plates are not flat. Then you will need to send the callipers away and get them stripped and refurbished. I warped a brand new set of discs in less than 800 miles by not addressing the corrosion first.
