Disabling boot release button on remote fob
Disabling boot release button on remote fob
Is there any way of disabling the boot release button on the remote fob?
Re: Disabling boot release button on remote fob
Yes, it can be disabled by using the Carista app, but why?

That just looks like the normal stuff you can turn on and off with VCDS.
Not sure on the specifics of a B8 re the boot/remote though.

Yes, it's just another way of accessing the car's built in options. VCDS does it via a laptop and USB cable (typically), whereas as this app does it via your phone / tablet and a £3 bluetooth OBD adapter. Much cheaper and (seemingly) easier way of doing it, but probably not all options available. I've never used it but I intend on giving it a go with the new car (doesn't list the B7 as a supported vehicle).HPsauce wrote:That just looks like the normal stuff you can turn on and off with VCDS.

Parked mine in Cheltenham about 3 weeks ago, on a friends drive while we had lunch with them. Keys in my pocket, nothing unusual. Came out a few hours later to find the boot wide open.....geoffdunk wrote:Yes, it can be disabled by using the Carista app, but why?
Can only assume something in my pocket pressed the boot open, but I'll certainly be looking to disable this function !!! I can see why you might!
Re: Disabling boot release button on remote fob
I wonder if the boot release switch in the driver's door pocket is disabled when the car is locked. If not, perhaps it is susceptible to either an electrical fault or someone forcing a bit of wire down the side of the door?

I have also come out in the morning on three occasions to find my car in the drive with the boot wide open. I would love to disable the key fob switch also if you find a way of doing it.

Re: Disabling boot release button on remote fob
These are part of the instructions on how to make the boot close with the remote key fob for the C7:
Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Tap function for opening and
Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Touch function for opening
And set them both to not active.
All of this is with VCDS of course. It may be easier to use the Carista app. I tried it the other day with my £3 bluetooth dongle and it wasn't compatible. And to change any actual settings you need to upgrade to the $20 version.
There is probably a similar set of codes for the B8. If so, look for the 2 commands that say:MikeFish wrote:

Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(4)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Tap function for closing) from not active to active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(3)-Activation using rear lid opening button in remote key-Touch function for closing) from active to not active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(4)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch-Tap function for closing) from not active to active
Address 6D:4G9 959 107 A recoded (ADP-(3)-Activation using rear lid remote unlocking switch-Touch function for closing) from active to not active
This will result:
remote opening – long press - touch
remote closing – short press - tap
door closing – short press – tap
Touch = long press is set for opening to prevent accidentally opening the hatch.

While you're at it disable the roll windows down when holding the unlock button. I hated coming outside to the car with all windows down.
No matter where you go, there you are.
Re: Disabling boot release button on remote fob
That had nothing to do with the key fob. Your car just hates the smell of you!bam_bam wrote:While you're at it disable the roll windows down when holding the unlock button. I hated coming outside to the car with all windows down.
