They might be advertising them for £60k but not selling them for that.

As discussed on other threads, now new ones can be had for around £65k & the lead times are not prohibitive, so stumping up close to that for a year old car with 15k miles is a big ask. Now Audi are dealing on new ones it will hit the nearly new ones harder, even with spec.

GLWS as it is a lovely looking motor.

I personally think this is well under the book price. My car was 8000 miles and March 2015, near same spec. Both the insurance company and GAP quoted the class's guide book price of £67,000 for my car. I actually ended up be payed out £68,000.

The car was over £85k list, although I did not pay that. Not sure you would get a new one for £65k with all the options fitted to mine though.

It was registered July last year so 6 months old.

Correct John, £65k is the typical price for a discounted basic car before options.

Not quite £65k,

Cheapest quotes from orangewheels and carwow put a basic non optioned £79k listed car at £66,526 (£12.5k discount)

Looking on the approved used Audi website..

Cheapest RS6 is a July 2013 car with 31,000m at £55,841
Cheapest 15 reg car is £64,970
Cheapest 65 reg car is £69,990 (Most expensive is £89,950)

The prices have only recently dipped below £60k.

Yes, those are asking prices but having dealt with Audi numerous times in the past, you may at best get £2k off a £60k listed car.

Absolutely not John, i was purely referring to a standard car.

The dilemma for many though (i'd expect) would be buy a brand new car with admittedly standard spec (which isn't too bad on the FL) for £65-66k, with waiting times that aren't too bad which 'could' make £60k for a 6-12mth old car with 15k miles seem less attractive. If a buyer wants upgraded spec then certainly the game changes, but still with 15% off new cars it was always going to have a knock on effect to nearly new values as is now the case.

Your's is definitely priced very well & i'd imagine will sell quickly, but i don't agree as others have said that you're giving it away.

The mileage is a factor, but it's a 65k car at least.

I doubt it with brand new FL cars available for a touch over that & i'm sure John's not in the habit of giving £5k away for fun. Also didn't he say that was the advised sale price given to him by a dealer friend of his, albeit for a quick sale?

The key point is like all cars in this sector, the monthly depreciation as a ££ figure is high, so holding out for more could cost you in the short term as the car likely wouldn't sell quickly (not forgetting new ones can be ordered & delivered in a reasonable time currently) & thus you'd have 3mths of BS to then sell at the same price anyway.

Also with the crazy deals on S8's currently (£435 per month), the competition even from Audi for your uber saloon/wagon money is high & rumour has it the S8+ deals are also going to be extremely attractive at only a couple of hundred ££'s more & that's for a car just under £100k.

Well from my perspective, he isn't competing against boggo factory order (discounted) cars, he's competing against equally high-spec ones which are more expensive.

Having looked at the site, I don't feel the dealer he's using is necessarily an rs specialist, or even a 'premium' focused dealer and hence the advice around market value feels off to me. If however, offloading asap is the primary objective the  that's fine but it doesn't undermine my point that this is a 65k car.

John can do what he wants, clearly, but my point relates to the general market for that car, not the owner's intentions.

I take your point around depreciation and the s8 deals however, I think that car could be sold at 65. I'd be ringing round the likes of Bramley etc.

Good luck John, love your car!

We all want/expect more for our car than in reality they're worth. Yes you can be lucky & get what you'd like but the norm is this isn't the case.

I'm not saying what a used car with some spec is competing with, purely used with miles vs. brand new & i feel many would opt for the brand new shiny car at the same money. I'm no expert, but i'd certainly at £65k opt for a brand new one built for me & i'd hazard a guess this will hit nearly new prices quite hard over the coming weeks/months. Also 15k miles isn't a vast number but over 6 months is certainly higher than average. To an enthusiast this may not be an issue, but again against a brand new one with 0 miles it would be a factor i'd guess for many buyers.

I'd say £60k is bang on the money, as is far enough under the current new car price to generate interest & then the enhanced spec makes it attractive, at £65k i don't see the same happening.

Horses for courses as it wasn't my car & i'm sure John's done his maths.

Thanks Paul

My feeling was that the car could be worth a little more than £60k, however as my friend is allowing me precious showroom space I did not want to inconvenience him in it hanging around for weeks, and only then to consider lowering the price. We both feel it is priced to sell at that money.
