I was valeting at a main dealer and one of the salesman bought one and was going on at me about how fast it was. I had a 16v Golf at the time so I suggested a wager involving ownership of both cars. Start/finish at the dealership in sidcup, up A20 to swanley junction and back. Despite his strong commitment at first he declined eventually lol.

What about the icons of the previous generation of hot hatches - Peugeot 205 GTi (especially the 1.9) and the Renault 5GT Turbo? I hope they're on the list too.
Gone: 2006 B7 RS4 Avant (Phantom Black)

Don't blame him :) they weren't particularly fast and a bugger in the wet. Mine had Koni adjustable shocks, 7x15 RS alloys, a full Janspeed exhaust system, Kent cam, stage 2 heads etc but still wasn't that quick

I had my 5GTT tweaked by Brodie Brittain Racing so it made about 170bhp and had the front suspension geometry changed so that it didn't just spin the front wheels!

It was the archetypal "pocket rocket" and the RS4 is the first car afterwards that I've loved as much - well actually I love the RS4 more :biggrin2:

That sounds awesome for something that weighs as much as a Coke can (built like one too).

Just had the updated clutch and head gasket but running about 16psi. Loads of engine bling from k-tec racing. I sold it to a mate and bought a Nissan pulsar GTIR. Had a bit of a drag with him a week after I got it and he kept up with me. Was bloody gobsmacked!!!!.

For that era, I'd say the 106 Rallye or Clio Williams were the icons to have within that market sector.
Agreed. The VTR VTS were great cars when they came out, but hardly sought after now.

Of the more modern cars under 20 years old (ignoring R5, 205, Williams etc) straight clean unmodified 106 Rallyes and GTis have gone up a bit, they are so hard to find now. 306 GTi-6 or Rallyes haven't really gone up much which I find surprising, as again good ones are rare. There's not a single GTi-6 or Rallye on Autotrader or Pistonheads or Car and Classic atm. I know of someone who snapped up a 1500 mile Rallye when the Ryton Peugeot 206 factory was demolished, he got it ridiculously cheap, must be worth a bit now!

Ignoiring the run out model 182 Trophy, there are too many 172 182 around for those to go up, they are still falling. Their time will come - but it will be a lomg long time. There were a third of a million 205 GTis built worldwide (16 and 19) over the years.....

If you want old school fun, buy a 172 Cup. If you want to take a punt on something that might appreciate, I'd go for a 306 Rallye (if you can find a good one!)

I looked to buy another one before I bought the RS6, just couldn't find a good one that was worth looking at that wasn't stoooopid money.
Wonder what 309 Goodwood prices are like at the moment? Sold that dirt cheap cause I was constantly pestered it was in the way
