2 quotes done, no discounts applied on the quotes as they are open to negotiations.

I know it's a no brainier if it was my choice. PE all day long but it's for the insurance co to decide.

The first quote is the exact same car with exact same options and the second is PE without the panoramic roof/Tracker and black optics.

Here's hoping they'll agree the PE.

Might come to delivery times, and the time they have to keep you in a loaner. i.e. whatever is cheapest.

Both are week 4 build so should see new car at the end of March. But you're right it does depend on how long I'm without wheels. The Aviva loan car goes back on the 9th of Jan and that's me on me toes. I'm not happy with them leaving me without wheels and by all accounts they've said if the wait is too long then they MAY!! Pay out instead. Who knows at this point it's all stuck in limbo.

This may sound like too much of a coincidence but I've just had word that an RS6 has been stolen this evening in Tyseley by armed robbers!

Not another one!
I just had a quick look on Twitter for this and found one stolen and involved in a police chase in Birmingham on 9th December, just days before Eddies was taken!

Paul I am going through my Aviva insurance. What GAP insurance are supposed to do is fill in the gap from my Aviva policy back to invoice valve. Oh and the way I was sold it in the belief this would happen between 0-3 years.
W8PMC wrote: What i meant Eddie was surely your regular insurance would payout in full if your policy has new for old in the first 12mths. Surely your insurer would then either replace your car with a brand new equivalent or payout the equivalent cost. This assumes your car is less than 12mths old.

This often negates the need for GAP in the 1st year of a new cars life if your policy does new for old which i believe many do.
Eddie555 wrote:

Yea I get what you're saying Paul but Aviva who were very good at first are now also playing silly buggers. I keep saying pay me what it's gonna cost you to buy a new one but they're insisting on getting me a factory order as it was only 9 months old.

Did you get your ins co to pay out in full or did the gap have to pay out? Since reading the issues you have had I phoned around and found that NFU will give purchase price new car for upto 2 years and don't require a tracker and will cover an RS6. I talked to the NFU guy who confirmed that there was not a need for a GAP policy so long as I keep the invoice. (nfu said the call was recorded)

Just though other may want to check with NFU when insuring their car. Apologies if ive missed any replies on this but wanted to try and get it straight in my head how all this works.

copied from the policy:

Car –New Car Replacement If the CAR is a UK specification model and less than two years old from the date of first registration as new and it is a) subject to THEFT and not recovered; or b) damaged so that repairs will cost more than 60% of the manufacturer’s new car list price (including car tax, VAT and fitted accessories) at the date the damage occurred; or c) damaged so that repairs will cost more than the CAR’s current value (as determined by Glass’s Guide adjusted values) at the date the damaged occurred then WE will pay the cost of replacing the CAR (subject to availability) with a new car of the same make, model and specification. The original CAR will then belong to US. WE will only replace YOURCAR if a) YOU own the CAR or are buying it under a hire purchase agreement or other type of agreement where ownership of the CAR will pass to YOU and b) the hire purchase company agrees. If a new car of the same make, model or specification is not available, WE will pay YOU the amount YOU paid for YOUR CAR. WE will not pay set up fees, interest payments, delivery charges (other than manufacturer’s delivery charges) and vehicle tax. WE will not pay if YOUR CAR has previously been declared a total loss by any Insurer. WE will only make a payment if YOU provide sight of a purchase receipt or invoice

Ok so an update and to try and cut a long story short.

When ins co and gap were informed the day after the theft, the ins co were spot on and within hours offering a cash payout. I informed GAP with the payout and they said " but have they offered you a new replacement as under 12 months old"
Went back to ins co and they said yes and they only went payout route because I said I wouldn't want to ever own another RS6 again after being hijacked. So told gap also that under the circumstances I didn't want to have a replacement. Boom the bomb went off. "Well no Sir you must take the replacement and if you don't then you will have NIL benefit"
I had no choice but to accept replacement. After 2 weeks of third party specialists working to get me a new standard RS6 or PE, they finally came back to me and gave me a 16 week delivery wait. I lost the plot with ins co and gap and was surprised when gap said " oh by the way if your new car is longer than 12 weeks we will settle for you upto invoice value".
I stared at the ceiling and thought thank fook for that.

So same day Aviva paid me their share and GAP are still processing as it could take 10 working days.

Job done!!!
