Modify it in what way buddy?

£404 is great, you must be much older than me and live in a sleepy hollow with an angelic license :-) Joking!

There always a smart arse, ;-) Still cheaper than the B8

Actually Doodle - Mike, correct, on Confused.com you have to go for the A6 (Not the RS6 which is has under Audi) Then you will find this:

All want a good chunk of excess for that money.

You'd expect C5 to be cheaper, it's a 10+ year old car.

I mean as soon as I lower it, change the wheel or remap it the price shoots up. In fact with remap it went over 4k.
But I didn't expect to get a great price on there for a modified car.

I live in a postcode B so pretty good. I'm 41 with over 20 years no claims and an SP30 from 2011 (which lowers my premium). I edited the quote for garages and all it did was make the cheapest quote go from 404 to 430 but the 2nd cheapest quote (and a well known company) stayed at 423. Add the wife who is younger and less experienced and it goes down too.

Try putting in 3 year restricted license, that brings it down too.

so London Postcode, 37, Clean License, No Accidents, Business Use (Founder), plus Wife, parked on drive. 6 years NCD

I have business use too, made no difference to premium. Parked on drive too as I don't like the restrictions on garage use ie if you leave it at a pub 2 miles away overnight and it gets stolen or broken into you are not covered (fact is, it is more likely to get nicked at home than from the pub), likewise if you are at a late showing at the cinema and it gets stolen / damaged you are not covered.

Really? That's a pretty unreasonable contract term.

That's pretty standard for any car classed as garaged with any insurance policy I've ever read. It states that between the hours of 23:00 and 06:00 if the car is stolen or damaged within 3 miles of your house and not in a locked garage it is not covered. That's why I don't insure my car as garaged anymore even if it is. No such restrictions if you state it is parked on a driveway. This may have changed in the last few years but that was definitely the case last time I insured my car as garaged (and checked with several insurers).
FYI this was never explained to me, I just happen to be anal and actually read and the terms and conditions.

Out of interest, I've just done a quote on an RS5 and that comes out at £515 with Churchill (Fully comp, Protected NCB, x2 additional drivers, unlocked garage) which is £70 cheaper than what I pay currently on the B7 RS4. I could even get it down to £450 if I went with some unheard of companies - Hastings or Insure Pink?
Sepang Blue B8 RS4, MY14, All option packs, B&O, Adv Key, Adapt Cruise, Pan Roof, Akrapovic Titanium Exhaust, + more.
Previous - Sprint Blue B7 RS4 Avant, Ceramics, Sunroof, SS+, Buckets, FBSW, Bluetooth, 2010+ RNSe
Previous - Phantom Black B7 RS4 Avant, Black Optics, Titan pack, SS+, Buckets, FBSW
