Although I don't really have the strength or weapons to do anything, if I did I would beat the f*ker to a pulp, would probably stop short of taking his life... Although, I feel if someone is happy to put a gun to someone's head to steal their property - they do not deserve to be a part of our society, and therefore it wouldn't upset me at all if they were to die. (Although the potential prison time would!)

I know that's not PC at all but I do think the 'all life is sacred' is utter BS!

Lol!
Car thieves are scum, their life is not "sacred".. if it was up to me I'd lock car thiefs in the cars they stole with steel windows, let them die of hunger inside. Then I'll dry clean it and throw donuts over his malnourished rotten body.

As scumbags go, car thieves per se are not the worst, but the ones who break into your house / hold you at gunpoint for your car are right down there with the worst of them.

Robbers dream maybe, photos carry meta tag data - tells you where they are taken, like an auto trader for the underground, and we are posting specs and everything.

Looking at what you are saying Eddie - I reckon you are totally onto something there, looks way too organised.
you can remove meta data from a picture with certain programs - lightroom, photoshop etc.

Lesson here for us all. Can someone clarify the situation re photos posted on forums like these?

Do they contain data that allows others to tell where they were taken?
How accurate is the location?
Does using intermediates like Photobucket remove this data?
What should we all be doing about it?

Sorry about all the questions but important for us all to know - and It is all news to me :(

Anyone know the answers?

Thanks

Mark

Sorry to hear the news Eddie.
From a personal point of view I think a Clifford Black Jax system is starting to sound like a good idea.

Mark - It all depends on what you've done to the pic before you upload it.

1. If it's straight from the camera then it's got quite a lot of Metadata which can give a very accurate location, especially pics from GPS enabled smart-phones.

2. If you resize it in some editing software but only click "Save" then it's just a smaller version of the original and it still has all the Metadata.

3. If you use Copy/Paste to make a new version of the picture it copys the Metadata too.

The best way is to open the original in an editing program (MS Paint will do) and then click "Save As" and type in a new name so it's a completely new file. This new picture has no Metadata - Thats what I do before I upload anything, plus remove plates etc.

I had to have a tracker fitted in line with my insurance criteria.

Dude yea I agree the blackjax is a good idea. But if that were the case IMHO they would have tried again and probs next time kidnapped me until I gave them the code. The way the events had played out over the last month or so it appears they were adamant to get my car. Must have been to an order.

I've heard through the grape vine today that there is a Gang of Slovanians working out of Coventry. Head mans name is Fat Frank and is paying SCUMBAGS 5 large ones for high end AUDI/MERCS AND BMWs. They've even been stealing off each other. A gang member had his S1 and S3 taken during a house break. Pure evil I've been told.

Really sorry to hear this mate.
This is the scary thing of owning expensive and desirable cars like ours. My car is a daily one and I have had a nasty experience where I got chased by a tuned BMW 335d with 4 unsavoury characters in it. Very saddening.
