Attempted Car Hijack -Birmingham

Post by tcmrdon » Sat Dec 12, 2015 12:55 pm

Unfortunately one of my fears almost happened the other night
Was heading back from brum city centre around 10pm Wednesday evening, Stratford road sparkhill.

Had some random car getting really close then backing off a few times, was only cruising didn't boot off. they undertook and was only a A3 2.0 TDI so thought nothing of it. got to the next traffic lights stayed a good car length behind this A3 and then all of a sudden doors started opening an shutting then open again. baffled they pulled over slightly so thought fook this and booted off.
unfortunately next traffic lights I had to stop and then they swerved infront and tried to get out. off I went was not hanging around

chase must of been going on for 15 minutes. they were adamant to get the car. had a few close calls at cross junctions and a few head-ons due to having to over take super slow people holding me up. bus hogging the road almost shafted me as they got out running towards the car but managed to bump up the curb and squeeze through

not happy at all with how I drove (just before I start getting grief) but I was not going to have my car taken off me of beaten up either. could of been stabbed or shot and I was taking that risk.

not one police car was around.

people with RS's please stay away from this area and find another was into brum

seriously put things on a downer with having this car now. definitely looking to sell and go to something completely standard. :(

Sorry to hear that... Must've been a scary situation...
Did you report it? If not, it might be an idea to in case you've been reported for your driving - which I think any of us would've done in that situation...
Thankfully you didn't get hurt!!

Holy crap! Glad to hear you and the car were alright.

I think anyone would have driven like that to get out of danger. You did well to not get pinned in by the sounds of it.

Thought about a dashcam? Would at least get reg of the car and perhaps their faces on camera and could pass on to police.

Times like these you need some South African anti hijack measures...e.g. Flame throwers positioned under the sills!

I had something kinda similar a few years ago with a new Scooby...scary as hell and really kills the fun of having a nice car.

Glad you're ok.

Keep the motor though...this thankfully very rare for this to happen.

I'd have called 999 from the car as it was unfolding.

How do you think I feel. I'm his DAD. I can't even begin to write on a public forum what I'd do to those MO FO's.

Surely if you report to police they can check any cctv cameras on the roads you drove on?

Don't think you've done anything wrong we all would have driven like that.

Defo consider something like a blackvue rear and front camera would have got their reg number etc.

What do you expect it's Riv blue, highly desirable :sekret:
I wouldn't sell up because of a bunch of scumbags doing this, chances are it will never happen again, as they will know it's been reported

Sorry to hear this, and a good reminder to us all to keep some distance from the car in front when stopping.

Didn't you have an attempted theft / break in shortly after buying this car? Not had the best of luck have you?

Well clearly if it was my son, there'd be no limit to the punishment I'd want to mete out.

In terms of these individuals, I wish them a life of poverty, incarceration and misery.

thanks for you comments guys

I haven't actually reported it to the police as the where cameras could have been is where I drove like a right arse to get myself out of trouble
almost causing a few bad accidents :(

@boff - I was too busy focusing on getting away to be honest
@riv - of course I understand just didn't help myself driving in a shithole area full of xxxxxxxx
@mikefish - yes mate your right was not long after I had the car they came over the back gate :|

lessons learnt don't drive in <beep> areas and always have plenty of fuel :bash:
have thought about dash cams recently may be worth investing
