S4 AVANT

Looking at getting one off these pretty soon 1-2 yrs old and looking for any advice on them as on what to look for as in spec of car.Any advice as to which goodies i should look for as theres a few options out there and as too price for one.Have seen an 04 one thats coming up for sale as soon as his RS4 comes and its priced at £31k low miles

Definately try and get one with a solar sunroof. Great in the summer as the roof powers the fans (not the climate). This means the car is coolish when you open the doors and not blisteringly hot as per normal. Also means the leather seats don't get too hot either, so you can sit on them without burning your bum!

I would also encourage you to find one with the Bose sound pack.

Sorry to disagree but I've got two S4 Avant's both with the in dash 6 CD player. One has Bose and one does'nt and I can't tell any difference - might be my ears though (two small children!).

£31-33k is the right price for 04's from dealers at the mo but that will be c£2k lower when the RS4 is due. These cars are great - the trade likes metallic (mind you plain red looks great) and full leather but most cars have £3-4k of extras so buying used you should be fine. I would'nt bother with Sat Nav but that's personal.

Reversing detectors - I find them invaluable.

p.s. I'll be putting mine on the market after LeMans. Having the S4 isn't condusive to me finishing the Ultima.

Don't forget if you go backwards then take it out of reverse and keep rolling they don't work !!!!!!!!!!!!!

I've heard Bose in an S4 Avant and it was no where near as good as in my saloon. I'm not surprised to hear it's not much better than non-Bose

Went to see S4 Avant in silver with Black half leather & alacantra (heated),carbon inserts,rear air bags,ski bag 8k 1 owner from new who has been offered £31k part/x on his rs4 it,s 1 yr old on 04 plate and mint
Still looking for tips or should i wait for a used B7 S4
