Might be checking in the RS5 forum to see if there have been any tests. I've stuck with the OEM each time, not really needed a reason to look elsewhere, other than all that dust!
It's all torque talk.

Front Discs and pads - anyone renewed?

Post by Moonmonkey831 » Tue Oct 27, 2015 11:09 pm

Went for my first service today at 14k miles (car 18 months old) and they said front brakes were 35% worn and rear are 30% worn. Think I must be driving like miss daisy compared to the OP here!

Just had my discs and pads replaced at 11k

Pads were 60% worn but the discs were warped due to excessive heat and manner of driver apparently! It is an RS, Would have expected them to handle a bit of spirited driving.

£1300 for both!
B7 RS4 Cabriolet with custom Blueflame - Gone
Misano red RS3 running Stage 1 APR - Gone
Sepang B8 RS4 with buckets - Gone

You've been done.....I was quoted £1150........however that was the lowest of three dealers I called......I had my front pads replaced yesterday at 16k miles...£432.....a rip off too but the cheapest dealer price I could find.

Genuine discs are £626. Fitting is 10 minutes extra per side max if you're doing pads.
Genuine pads are £280. Fitting is 15-20 minutes max per side at home.

Screw paying someone £250 for an hours work (or worse £400). And that's presuming Audi pay TPS prices, which they dont...

Bring it to me - I'll only charge you £100 for the hour... :bigwave:

As for being warped due to the style of driving that's a bit of bullshit imo sorry. Mine are fine and get driven plenty hard. Trackdays, Nurburgring, more agressive pads etc.
Believe only the man who has nothing to gain from what he says.

8E0698151Q Pads
8T0615301 Discs

Prices above from TPS mate but pads are on eBay for the same price (almost and seller takes offers):

If you have VCDS it is pretty straightforward I believe (I've not done mine yet). Its just a case of using it to tell the calipers to open/close.

My ex had an 07 plate A6 with and electronic hand brake. I didn't realise the different procedures required  and went ahead and wound in the pistons to fit the new pads. I'm not saying it was right but it never gave any problems either.

Just for info, if anyone else has this coming up ;
I had the front pads on my car replaced this week for £510 inc fitting etc at my local dealer
They're ceramic, so I knew they'd be expensive, but I guessed they might last a bit longer than 28k miles
Saying that, they've probably had a fairly hard life
