Re: Genuine 200 mph
*if* you want to break 200mph there's virtually nowhere in the UK to do it legally (in an RS6) so it means a trek to Germany *just* to go fast. Most people aren't going to do that and will make a judgement call as to where it's worth it or not.
PS Plenty of Police, where??? I see speed cameras everywhere but I very rarely see any motorway police on the M20/M2 unless there's been an accident.

Wouldnt even consider that on open road. That's go to jail and unpleasant shower games oooh !!!!!
Genuine 200 mph
Except that you're likely to end up in a ditch or up a bank, that's a horrid bit of road, last maintained in 1965!Covkiller wrote:The M45 Autobahn by Cov

Re: Genuine 200 mph
Odd, I see them pretty much every time I use the M20, and that's just the obvious marked cars.IanH755 wrote:*if* you want to break 200mph there's virtually nowhere in the UK to do it legally (in an RS6) so it means a trek to Germany *just* to go fast. Well debated, but clearly it's not worth it. Unless you like picking up soap.
Re: Genuine 200 mph
Balls or no balls, what is the point of having a fast car if you don't give all you've got.
Let's just tootle round round like bunch old fairies and afraid. Every single car I have ever owned I have maxed out to reach V-Max.
My C63 got over 200MPH on the clock, on the A10 into Berlin. My Capri 2.8i Special go 134MPH, my Sierra Cosworth got over 160mph.

Re: Genuine 200 mph
I'm not saying I'd use this road. It's the newish A16 road between Spalding and Peterborough it's as straight as a die for 6-7 km at 2 points ( I was in my truck hence km) and it's dead quiet at night. Smooth and flat and you can see for miles if there's anything ahead.

Re: Genuine 200 mph
Done it several times. You hit a bit of a brick wall when it changes up from 5th to 6th though so ideally need another 100rpm on the gearbox map from MRC. It does still pull but not hard like in 5th.
The road of choice in the UK if you're going to do it "safely" is the A1M southbound at Alconbury. 6 miles pretty much dead straight, most of it 4 lanes wide.

Re: Genuine 200 mph
Hmmm, mine changes at 195mph indicated (7Krpm limit & MRC GB map too) and the acceleration slows slightly (maybe 1mph per second) but it still goes as if it's not going to stop until I chickened out.

Different wheel size? Tyres?
I guess even tread depth will start to make a difference at those speeds?

Oh my word, I just had a look at this on googlemaps, its 3.6 miles straight with no junctions! Is is flat though? The new Corby link road isn't laser straight but its four miles between roundabouts, but its just too bumpy.Eddie555 wrote:I'm not saying I'd use this road. Ian in all seriousness it's smooth, dead straight and flat and you can see for miles ahead. I wouldn't have a go in the day though. Too many lorry's doing 40 and on weekends the cops are right at the bottom bend where there's a junction for Thorney. Full Paris Dakar lights at gone midnight would be the way to go.
