Take a Picture when Bored
Re: Take a Picture when Bored
These lot!
Amazing what the real Issues were after dropping it, besides corner weight balancing.
I'll do as the rest do and keep it to myself!
One thing for sure the spacers are a bad bad idea,
Even after fitting Eibach control arms there are other issues!
Depends on whether the look is more important than the handling!
I chased the handling!

Let us know if you have any additional work done and how it feels / handles on the drive home. Looking to do this shortly too.Daytona Greg wrote:Corner weight balancing !
Re: Take a Picture when Bored
If you want stock cambers on the front you will definitely need adjustable top control arms.
Unlike the way mine started!
It pays dividend to get an alignment data shot BEFORE anything is touched!
This will makes sense as some of the FULL content is not available from Audi, they don't have them as prior to altering they are fixed points!
So when the handling alters, to return the alignment to stock is a challenge!
(Unless your happy with a change in handling and in most cases inner tyre wear and obviously less rubber on the road!)

Re: Take a Picture when Bored
Audi fitted my control arms, I have to say mine drive spot on, what are the other issues they have found ?One thing for sure the spacers are a bad bad idea,
Even after fitting Eibac

Eibac ?
Audi fitted adjustable top control arms ?
Which ones ?
Because your car is dropped?
My quote, "the spacers are a bad bad idea even after the Eibach arms were fitted", they were not fitted to address the spacers directly but part of it.
what method/equipment alignment equipment did they use ?
Hard to reply really without knowing what you've had done.

Re: Take a Picture when Bored
I had 034 Motorsport arms fitted, then 4 wheel alignment,it's not rocket science to set it back up
Cant see why you should have any issues with spacers as long as they are the same dimensions front to back, ran them on my b7 for best part of 5 years with no issues

Re: Take a Picture when Bored
Did Northampton Motorsport tell you spacers were bad? If so, what reason did they give? Assume you are now running without spacers? You mentioned there were some issues, what issues have you had with your car's set up? Did they need to adjust via corner weighting much? How was it it balanced in stock form? How does the car drive now?Daytona Greg wrote:RIV wrote:Audi fitted my control arms, I have to say mine drive spot on, what are the other issues they have found ?One thing for sure the spacers are a bad bad idea,

You had the cheap adjustable control arms fitted then ! (O34 motorsport)
You had them fitted relating to just the spacers?
No alignment is not rocket science, but if you've only had spacers fitted why would you need adjustable control arms? Although if you haven't had the vehicle dropped on coil overs you may not understand all of the issues I've had, and I assume so as you don't know what the issues are with ALL of the alignment data!
I'll say no more because I find this site is full of everyone that knows everything, although no suggestions came from this site what so ever, King sarcasm site.
I've had so many B7 owners quote I've had no problems with spacers, mine is a B8, the spacers have affected the TPS and likely to have had some effect on DRC, there are sensors in ABS and wheel speed sensors, guess what spacing the wheels from the sensors created issues, let alone (10mm) the handling and turning charactistics are altered, and this effect increase with speed.

Re: Take a Picture when Bored
i have H&R springs on my b8 and 034 arms are not cheap!!
Your the one coming on the forum asking for advice because your car drives like <beep>
And when you get some advice from people you just give them grief. You quite clearly don't know what your talking about.
So why are spacers ok on a b7 and not in a b8????

Daytona Greg, are you British, Scottish, Irish or Welsh? I only ask this, as it's a little difficult to read your responses, they're not straightforward and it feels a little like getting blood out of a stone. If English isn't your first language, then I understand. If it is, then this isn't meant to insult. However your posts read with an amount of negativit emotion, presumably due to fact you've had issues. Loads of people with B8 platform cars (RS4, RS5, S4, S5, etc) run spacers and don't have issues. Equally a good amount of people are lowered, either springs or coilovers. So the questions to you are of genuine interest. You've been to a chassis development centre after all, why not sure your experience rather than make people struggle to extract the information from you?
Genuinely confused by this.

You obviously know what your typing about?
Regarding the alignment not being rocket science tell me what data is missing from Audi, I assume you have it ?
Does your B7 have TPS and DRC?

Blood out of a stone? That is exactly how it has been on here!marc1 wrote:Daytona Greg, are you British, Scottish, Irish or Welsh? I am British and type in English? Perhaps excuse my dyslexia? You didn't/wouldn't know so no offence taken, what is it that I have typed that doesn't make sense and ill try again !?
I do find this site hard to use from the phone, minimising to check etc proves difficult. I have typed a response twice and lost it?
