I installed these with no issues whatsoever, no dash warning lights nothing.

Those come with cancellers. I assume when you said you had no errors it was with the cancellers installed?

Not with the CREE versions - you need the cancellers...
Nope not CREE ones. The ones I posted the link to from auto bulbs direct. £29.99 and 2 or 3 years warranty, seemed a good option as can be returned if there are any problems. They are massive though i.e. Only just fit through the hole. I assume they are that big as house whatever sort of cancelling device inside the bulb. To be honest though, as per Dave's post the PIAA bulbs seem to get good reviews.
Except I remember the PIAA ones were causing MOT failures - maybe attitudes have softened ?

I wouldn't expect any bulb to fail he MOT if DRL, as it's not a requirement, was an option only and can be switched off. Side lights maybe. I've had issued in the past with MOT's too for sidelights. It came back as 'too blue'. They weren't blue though!

I've passed 7 MOTs with PIAA bulbs fitted in my RS4 (and I always have them turned on)...

With all due respect Trups, your current ones don't even fit! Another one of your products just sitting in my desk drawer...more money wasted. :nodder:

DRL look a bit yellow

Post by Trups » Mon Sep 14, 2015 9:28 pm

Sam,

I have sold around 100 kits in the last 2 years of the DRL setup.

Are you telling me that all 100 sets don't fit?

I'm telling you the ones you've supplied me with don't, as clearly shown. Care to comment on that?

That's exactly how all the DRL cancellers go out.

Why not just say that YOU have struggled with it rather than trying to bash the whole item?

Have a read here - viewtopic.php?f=35&t=103788&hilit=led

You are trying to make out I have sold you a bag of sand, if that was the case and nothing worked that I sold here then I would stop paying Phil T my sponsorship and get myself a 9 to 5 again and call it a day.

Fitting:
The two remaining lugs that are on the DRL canceller that I have supplied are fitted at the 7pm and 11pm slots when looking through the front of the headlights, so on your picture if you was to rotate "Trups led DRL adaptor harness" it would line up with the two that are at the bottom, when locked in on the car they are tight, they don't rattle and have no way of just dropping out.

Thanks

Believe me, I had brand new headlights to fit to the car. Your DRL kit did not fit either the new headlights or the existing headlights I was replacing and I tried every configuration to secure them into the headlight housing. That's not to mention the other end of the kit where the shrink wrapping around the male end of the adaptor interfered the location of the pins pushing and twisting home. Finally, another one of your solder joints came adrift.

I've fitted block and pistons into BMW's when working as a qualified technician, quicker and with far more success than fitting your Interior and DRL kit. You couldn’t even fit some of those LED’s after the Boxhill meet and had to swap them out for some others in your parts box. Your sun visor LED's still strobe like I'm in a night club on occasions.

I won’t lie, your customer service until now has been great, but there comes a point where enough is enough. The fitment of the products which you supplied to me is crap.

I have a set of RS4 headlights in my office that I bought a year ago and I don't even own one. I will make you a video of it in the DRL reflector of it fitting in and I can assure you that it will just like how all the other members have managed and I have managed on the rs4's that have come to me to have them fitted.

This is the 1st I have heard that you had trouble fitting the DRL kit so clearly you didn't come to me as it would of been resolved, do you think I'm physic and and know what's going on until it's bought to my attention?

The bulbs that I changed when I came and met you was so I knew they where fresh and had not been touched to speed the process up.

Don't bullshit me to try and protect yourself...some LED's you re-used and some of them didn't fit. Fact. Considering my background, I made sure that I watched you very closely as the kit should have been fitted in minutes hence my original thread on here to see if I was really being stupid. I wasn't...it was your kit at fault, from memory three of them didn't fit and the soldering on another was substandard.

You can see from my photo, your adaptor at the 12 o'clock position is the largest lug. It does not fit into the other two positions like you are suggesting as you can see by the way of comparison to the OEM holder. I'm more than happy to video all my problems, just like I've done with photographing them.

Them 3 bulbs you say I switched have been put back in circulation of stock and have been sent out working and fine when testing on the 12v tester and the one that lost a solder joint Has also been fixed and sent out, I don't just come back and start throwing it away because it didn't fit.

I'm not asking you for a video, I said that I will make you one of the adaptor plunging into the reflector.

Did you read the thread I linked you to? A few member son there asking for advice on fitting and me telling the, the same and it working out for them?

If you wasn't happy from the get go I would of refunded you like I said. Even when you tried fitting the DRL kit you didn't get in contact to say that it was giving you grief, so how am I meant to try and help?

I'm not taking sides because I don't know the ins and outs but Sam, you should had contacted Trups if you had issues installing the kit.

When I had a problem with mine ( me being stupid), Trups came all the way down to London to help me and that's what I call great customer service.

IMO, slagging one off here is not very professional especially when they are in business.

Anyway, hope you guys find a happy medium and resolve the issue.
Too much power is barely enough.
