Where is the filling point for gearbox oil?

Post by Widescreen » Sat Aug 29, 2015 2:11 pm

I know this is a probably a very silly question to ask, but I'm going to ask anyway.

I have a RS6 C5 and want to know where do I top up the gearbox oil.

Can you please help?

Paul

See the Audi manual on my site. You'll need VCDS, and a lift ideally, plus a pump filler with flexible tube. Try and find out what brand of fluid is in it, think it's not the best to mismatch.

Thanks Iswing,
I think I'll have to let a local garage do it.

Make sure they both have the manual & VCDS too - it's not just your normal "fill till it overflows".

Yeah. Alarm bells ringing... If you don't follow the procedure it'll end in tears.

There are people who have machines to do it properly. Correct temperatures, cycling etc. etc.
One I know of is Mackies in Glasgow, another (temporarily unavailable while moving premises) is in Swindon.
Where are you?

Yes, it's just having the manual and VCDS, and knowing how to use it. Any Audi/Euro shop that has skill can do it. I like to ask them to explain the procedure to me, some shops have no clue, then time to walk.
