S8 Plus must mean RS6 plus next ??

I'm not sure what the Audi way is other than flog as much as possible.

Watch this space I guess, it's odd there's been nothing in the Euro press, you'd see cars testing normally.

They'll be strong money if they do pitch up, and ltd numbers. No bargain basement finance! Best bet is to wait and to get into a pre-plus car at bargain price.

Funny enough was at Merc dealer today...was heaving with folk!

I think Merc are trying to be where Audi are now...volume,volume ,volume.

I see loads of brand new Mercs in various guises on my travels these days.

Loads of new models and specs on show( I'm not that familiar with Merc model line up etc)

New C63 s was there.....looks nice inside but a little underwhelming outside TBH...4 where drive will take volume form Audi.

Lots of watered down AMG badges on hum drum diesels....suppose the same as Audi watering down RS by offering same style wheels etc on diesel rep mobiles.

Not so sure that there is such a thing as a "parts bin" upgrade format in the conventional sense now-a-days. Most items are produced and delivered on a "just in time" basis. Otherwise every car manufacturer could be left with £MM of inventory lying around that they will never shift! If you recall the recent claimed delays following a fire at the supplier of the door handles- for something so mundane you'd have thought Audi would have a warehouse full of them...but that was apparently not the case! I could subscribe to the idea that Audi has a desire to recover development costs for the more exclusive trinkets and bundles them up into "specials" in the hope they create a demand. Audi then have the parts manufactured on demand hoping to recover some development costs?

Still, in anycase, we can agree that when/if the RS6 C7+ arrives it will likely have more trinkets as standard all be it at a premium.

I don't think that is the general take on "parts bin" -the C7 platform is the same across the A6- granted there are some changes in suspension geometry and some wings thrown into the mix for the RS, anything deeper and it would need to be a C8 surely?

Trinkets (aka bragging rights) will always shift motors though!

Not sure i agree with the Halo part. The A8 has always been the Audi range topper (excluding the R8) so even now i'd say the R8 is perhaps the Halo model & that's got less power than the RS6.

The RS6 is perhaps the Halo model in the A6 range in the same way other RS's are in their ranges, but the A8 is & always has been the most expensive (non R) model in the range & the S8 list prices has always been a good £20-30k North of the RS6.

I love the idea of an S8+ & having driven the non + a couple of times, it's quite a car. Sure it will depreciate like it's fallen off a cliff, but what a motor.
