Idris Elba in an RS6

Post by Nobby » Tue Jul 21, 2015 10:19 pm

Pretty sure he's driving an RS6 around in the latest advert for his 'No Limits' show - it's Matt black and looks like it's been wrapped (or plastidipped!)

The next one is in Discovery channel on Monday @ 9pm.

I genuinely don't know who he is. Just some marketing genius on Discovery is plastering adverts for his series EVERYWHERE. Sick of seeing the adverts tbh. Watched the one where he learnt to fly - and surprise surprise, 7 hour days for 6 weeks with a professional stunt pilot and you can fly a set routine (without take off, landing, or doing any radio work). Congratulations you hero.

As for driving down the beach in a Bentley, again - (maybe I'm ignorant here) but I don't see the big deal at ALL with this one. Done fairly high speeds myself in the RS6. Seems fairly simple to me. Plant foot, dont die. Simples - surely?
Believe only the man who has nothing to gain from what he says.

I'm so with you on this! I don't get why people don't understand the difference between relative and absolute speed! 200mph in a car that does 200mph on a straight bit of empty road is less likely to end in an impact as 70mph through a slalom! One invokes a single axis of force the they involves multiple!

Yes but famous people are SOOOOOOOOOO AMAZING when they do something normal. Secretly I watch this <beep> hoping they'll die in a ball of flames. They don't make actors they used to, RIP: James Dean, Linda Lovelace and Junkyard Dog...
No matter where you go, there you are.

To be honest I don't like him that much either, but I did enjoy watching Luther.

More interested in what he does in the RS6, and why he seems to be driving one when its not the obvious car to train someone up for driving high speed. There are plenty of other large German fast cars who are more common and easier to fix. Maybe it's his own car?

Discovery website says

Although he practiced in a highly-modified Audi RS6 Plus – with uprated wheels, tyres and brakes, the interior ripped out and a roll cage put in – the official record was attempted in the Bentley.

Looked pretty standard spec to me other than stripping it and putting a roll cage in. I noticed he ignored revo's advice and put nitrous in it anyway!

Why would you choose an old estate car to try and get 200mph? Probably didn't listen then either!

I wouldn't put him in any car he doesn't listen to any of them and is constantly making excuses for his balls up....even before he gets in the car

Glad its now finished, i found myself watching it to see what he wrecks next!

Well that was disappointing. A slightly odd choice to use the car for the speed record. Maybe they were wanting to save money and wanted the cheapest option? Looks like it was riding a bit high (DRC perhaps?). Brakes were smoking when he was going round Rockingham.

Wonder whats happened to the car now? Can't seen anyone really wanting a 2 ton matt grey (wrapped) RS6 that has a dodgy gearbox, NOS (!), no interior and a roll cage. The dash lights were also lit up like a Christmas tree.
