[SOLD] B7 RS4 SS+, Ceramics, MRC Stage 2 & Carbon Clean

Post by stu » Thu Jul 16, 2015 3:39 pm

update 19/11/2015. Sold!

The time has come to sell my RS4.

It's been a pleasure owning and running this beautiful beast of a car for nearly five years. I am the third owner, buying it in October 2010 from Tyneside Audi with 30,000 miles. I've done my best to maintain to a high level using OEM-only parts with no expense spared, and now it's time for someone else to enjoy it. I can't quite believe I'm letting it go but it feels like the right thing to do.

Image

Summary:
- 2007 B7 RS4 Avant in Daytona Grey
- Ceramic Brakes
- Sport Suspension Plus
- Well maintained DRC
- Clutch less than 5,000 miles old
- Recent MRC Stage 2 and MRC full carbon clean.
- 81,801 miles (which will increase slightly as in regular use)
- Cookstown based

Factory options fitted:
- RS4 Flat bottom steering wheel
- RS4 embossed heated bucket seats with inflatable side bolsters
- Carbon fibre interior inlays
- Central arm rest
- BOSE sound system
- RNS-E sat nav with CD mulitchanger, analog TV tuner, SD slots.
- Bluetooth phone module
- Adaptive xenon headlights
- Auto-dimming mirrors
- Auto wipers
- Front and rear parking sensors

An audio auxillary-in and additional 12v socket was added out of sight in the glovebox. I replaced the original central fascia to delete the phone cradle. No other interior adaptions have been made.

Brakes
The front brakes were upgraded to the ceramic setup in May 2012 at Tyneside. They are truly fantastic. The brake pads are half worn after 32k so there's plenty of miles before new pads. Rear discs and pads were replaced in April 2014 which is 11k ago. The rear calipers were mechanically refurbished and repainted July 2014.

Suspension
The standard Sports Suspension was upgraded to the (normally) factory-only option Sports Suspension Plus (SS+) at no small expense by Tyneside in July '14, improving handling and lowering the ride height very slightly. Both rear shocks were replaced at the same time due to evidence of corrosion on the DRC pipework. The DRC was pressure checked, flushed and recharged in 2012 for my own curiosity and again in 2014 when this work was carried out.

Engine and Drivetrain
The car has a full service history by Audi Tyneside with the exception of the last service in December which Revolution carried out. Interim oil changes were carried out by Revolution and a local mechanic when in Ireland. The oil cooler was replaced in December 2012 after a very common failure. Gearbox and differential oils were replaced in July 2014 (9k ago) at Tyneside Audi as part of general upkeep.
In September 2014 the engine manifold was deflapped, the vacuum system leak-checked, and airbox, solenoids and oil separator replaced. The exhaust flap system is in good working order.
The car underwent a full clutch replacement at Tyneside Audi in November last year and has covered less than 5k since then.
In June of this year (less than two months ago) the car was taken to MRC for a full carbon clean, vacuum check, air filter, sparks, and MRC Stage 2 map. Current is a dyno-confirmed 425PS and 461Nm.

Body and Interior
This RS4 has been professionally detailed several times during my ownership: usually once or twice a year depending on thoroughness. I do my best to preserve the work at home using snowfoam and two bucket technique and leave the real work to the pros!
There are no marks on the bodywork with the exception of stone chips in keeping with the milage. It has been parked off street and in secure private car park at work so has managed to avoid any car parking dings. I can supply many more photos on request.
The rear bumper was removed and fully resprayed after I grazed a bollard in June 2011. This done to perfection by Heaton Coach Works, Newcastle. The central grill was also replaced due to chips on brushed metal surround.
The only persistent defect is a small crack to inside aspect of left air duct on bumper where a pheasant went through the duct and took out the air ducting for the left brake. The ducting was replaced and the crack too trivial to repair. I forget it's there when the mesh is in situ. There is also minor kerbing on one of the wheels.
The interior is particularly fresh for the milage. There is remarkably little bolster wear for age and milage. A Hatchbag has protected the boot interior from dirt and marks since purchase. A new set of Audi front matts is included.

The new owner will know exactly what they're getting and I hope they will enjoy it as much as I have.

I should also add that the car comes complete with a very fresh set of Goodyear Eagle F1s all round and MOT certificate for renewal April 2016. I run Pirelli Sottozeros in winter on a second set of OEM wheels and these will be for sale at a later date.

If you have any questions please PM me or call 07855236174.

Thanks for reading!

Stuart.

Thanks guys. The ad needs tidying up a little later on for easier reading.

It will appear on Pistonheads too in reduced form. I know you lot like details as much as me. I left out the more boring stuff, like the slightly crooked rear wiper that resulted in me replacing the whole mechanism so it's just right. I lost the plot a little with this car but it's been so much fun owning and driving. It's been pampered, but don't worry: it's been driven as Audi intended too :D

I've always wanted a hot hatch so I'm getting myself a Fiesta ST-3 for a while. Should be a laugh if nothing else!

Thought about a Golf R instead?

The original post has been tidied up a little for clarity.

I did for all of about five minutes. I think they are superb cars but they're not for me, not here and now anyway.

I really want to scratch this hot hatch itch though. I don't need a big car for a while and the Fiesta seems to be a good one. When I've got all that out of my system I'll start shopping for something with a V8 again. Maybe V10. Either way, plan is to keep the little ST as a little run around.

It would be great in the twisty bits! Kemmel straight, not so much.

I don't think I can go this year. But we shall see.

Thanks!

The idea behind the SS+ was as part of a mid-life refresh over the course of last summer. There was a possibility that I was going to keep the car for a very long time and I wanted to keep the car as Audi intended but enhance it. I took it to Spa a few months later (my very first track day) and I was glad for the uprated springs and roll bar.

The ceramics were courtesy of Audi UK.

It would be! Lynne too. I want to do the whole thing in a more leisurely pace next time and get a few days holiday in too. I might not manage that level of organisation this year though. Maybe next :beerchug:
