Advice on buying my first B7 RS4 Cab

Post by B7B7B7 » Thu Jul 02, 2015 10:16 am

Chaps,

I have a deposit on a 2006 B7 RS4 cab. Black with 53k on the clock priced at £17995.

Would that be a fair price to pay if its in good condition?

Ive been educating myself on the common faults and down falls (DRC, vac lines, disk and pads, aux rads, carbon build up etc etc).

Can anyone tell me if the B7 ever needed a running in service (say at 1500 miles like most BMW 'M' cars)?

Does anyone have the service / maintenance schedule outlining what needs doing at what time?

The car in question had its first service at 17k. I appreciate it was probably on long life but seems along time to go without an interim oil service.

Its had 5 previous owners.. Should I be worried?

Anything I should be specifically looking out for?

Im taking 'Shiney Daves' VCDS with me so should be able to scan for any faults.

Any help is hugely appreciated.

Scott

I've got a cab too and have to say that I love it, especially at this time of year.

It shares all the same issues as the saloons and breadvans as they have pretty much the same running gear.

Only cab specific issue I have had was the motor that operates the roof lost power, Audi wanted to replace the whole thing for serious cash but there's a guy in Harrogate that does refurbed motors for about £100 fitted ( other people round the country do them too )

Things to watch out for are:
The elements on the rear window breaking when the roof goes up and down, you won't notice this until you need them
Make sure you clean the roof really well after the winter and give it a reproofing or it will go green very quickly.
Parking near trees is a big no - no, see above
Roof rubbers can leak, get yourself a rubber treatment and go over them every once in a while, keeps them flexible and working properly, stops you getting wet when going round corners

A wind deflector is a must, makes a big difference but make sure you wash it every now and then as they get filthy and if you get caught out bu the rain it all ends up on the back seat and anything you have there, this happened to me a few weeks ago on the way to Le Mans.

I really hope you enjoy it as much as I do mine

Hi. Can,t add much on cabs as never had one but you seem to be aware of the normal issues so seem prepared. Mine never had its first service until about 19k iirc. Good luck and enjoy.

Tough to say on the 5 owners, personally I am not a fan of it. You wander why they did not keep it longer. Do a compression/leak-down test for sure. I go through about 1-1.5 courts in 5k miles, and that's well below tolerances set my Audi. However, it's an awesome car as you know so good luck. Putting in coil-overs on mine next weekend after just rolling over 100k miles with tune and runs like new!

What does the rest of the service history look like and have you checked it with the respective Audi dealers?
Do the previous MOT's tally up? You do an online check btw

06 car will most likely have the egg yolk (orange indicator) headlights. Not a deal breaker if the car adds up, but I prefer the cleaner lines of the clear indicators.

Although, it's easy to remove the yellow if needed, and buy the clear ones.

I also wouldnt be put off by the amount of owners. I,m the 5th owner of mine and the guy i got it from only had it 5 months and loved it but was relocated in his work and had to commute big distances so opted for a more economical car. Go with your gut feeling these are solid cars other than the issues your aware of.If theres a forum member close to you maybe see if you can get a passenger ride in theres to see how it compares.
