And it will need to address the growing gap between B8 and M3/C63 in their new forms. Both now nearing RS6 go specs.

This, 100%! A3 meets Passat and has a love-child. :|

No mention of the S4 either, let alone an RS! My guess is the RS won't be here until 2017.

I've condensed all the info into one quote post below, including a pic and the videos...
The evolutionary design shouldn’t come as a major surprise as a camo-free prototype was spotted recently showing Audi’s overhauled compact sedan will look sharper compared to its predecessor and will feature a wider singleframe grille and reshaped headlights. It also boasts different LED daytime running lights and a more sloped roofline to enable a sleeker look while the side profile shows a prominent shoulder line and enlarged wheelhouses. The back of the car comes with the traditional Audi taillights with LEDs and there’s a higher boot lid whereas the Avant gets a prominent roof-mounted spoiler.

Some will say that it looks more like a facelift for the B8 rather than an all-new B9 generation, but the sedan is actually bigger as it’s now 4.73 meters long, 1.84 meters wide and 1.43 meters tall, so it is 25 mm longer, 16 mm wider than the model it replaces while the wheelbase has been stretched by 12 mm to 2.82 meters. In addition, the drag coefficient has been reduced to 0.23 for the sedan and 0.26 for the Avant which in return will cut fuel consumption.

Despite the very familiar looks, the A4 B9 comes with a considerable weight loss of up to 120 kg (264 lbs) which allows the entry-level sedan with the 1.4 TFSI engine to tip the scales at 1,320 kg (2,910 lbs), not including the driver. Go for the A4 Avant and now the trunk can hold 505 liters of cargo with the rear seats up, representing a 15 liters increase compared to the old model. By folding down the 40:20:40-split rear bench, luggage room increases to 1,510 liters.

Stepping inside the cabin, it’s more spacious than before as a result of the elongated wheelbase and offers 23 mm additional rear legroom. The driver and passengers will get to enjoy completely redesigned seats, with the ones in front being anatomically-shaped while the head restrains are not only height-adjustable, but also the distance from the head can be modified.

The interior ambient LED lighting is available in no less than 30 colors while the 12.3-inch fully digital and customizable instrument cluster from the TT and Q7 will be available as optional equipment. The top-spec infotainment system will come with an 8.3-inch tablet-like display with support for voice control, Wi-Fi hotspot. LTE connectivity, Android Auto and CarPlay. There’s also a rear-seat entertainment system with dual 10.1-inch tablets and customers can also order an optional Bang & Olufsen sound system.

In terms of engines, the Audi A4 Sedan and A4 Avant (B9) will be available with an array of four- and six-cylinder turbocharged gasoline and diesel units, as follows:
1.4 TFSI: 150 PS (110 kW) and 250 Nm (184 lb-ft);
2.0 TFSI: 190 PS (140 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft); 252 PS (185 kW) and 370 Nm (273 lb-ft);
2.0 TDI: 150 PS (110 kW) and 320 Nm (236 lb-ft); 190 PS (140 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft);
3.0 TDI: 218 PS (160 kW) and 400 Nm (295 lb-ft); 272 PS (200 kW) and 600 Nm (443 lb-ft);

Audi will also be offering an A4 Avant g-tron with a 2.0 TFSI engine developing 170 PS (125 kW) and 270 Nm (199 lb-ft) which can run on compressed natural gas (CNG). The tanks installed underneath the car can hold 19 kg of gas at a 200-bar pressure and according to Audi gas consumption will stand at less than 4 kg / 100 km while the range on natural gas will be of 500 km (310 miles). When the gas is depleted, a full tank of gasoline will enable an extra 450 km (280 miles) of range.

The TFSI and four-cylinder TDI engines will work as standard with a newly developed six-speed manual gearbox that is 16 kg (35 lbs) lighter than the old one. All engines (except for the high-end TDI) will be optionally available with a new 7-speed S tronic dual-clutch replacing the old continuously variable multitronic transmission. The 272 PS 3.0 TDI will be offered with an eight-speed tiptronic which has also gone through a series of revisions.

Audi has announced the A4 Sedan and A4 Avant will go on sale this fall.

I've more interesting things floating in dishwater. Heck, my morning dump is consistently more exciting than that... new Mercs look better.

Incredibly safe.... (boring)! At least the lack of apparent change in styling will help support used values of B8's, although I guess they may make more radical mid-life update on B9 (like B6 to B7).

Something like the Prologue Concept would have been far more interesting! http://www.autoblog.com/2015/02/14/audi ... pt-geneva/

FYI - I had new pads and discs fitted last week (squeaky) and the business manager I spoke to said Audi would be moving quattro away from mechanical to more of a hybrid/electric system over next few years (bit like BMW i8).

Looks dull and 2.0 tdi power output is a long way off BMW and such like! Let's hope the tastier models are much better in the flesh!

But the Jag and BMW eco TDI are 163PS vs. Audi's 150PS

At a glance, it's like a game of spot the difference from the B8

Agreed most of the dash looks good. But ... I'm not a supporter of the new trend to make the "screen" a stand out pimple rather than integrated into the dash. As such I much prefer B8 RS4 to RS6. So not keen on that feature. Others are doing same same (A series Mercs) and that doesn't win me either.

My B8 could well be a long termer :biggrin3:

At least they managed to engineer out the crap piece of dash trim that sits around the MMI on the B8.5! Transmission tunnel looks pretty big as well, but definately evolutionary rather than revolutionary for the new B9.

Let's hope the B9 RS4 has the 4.0 Litre Bi-Turbo V8 that resides in the RS6...
RS6 PE - Current
RS4 (B8.5) 2015 - Sold
A4 3.0 TDI Quattro BE Avant - Gone
Focus ST170 - Garaged
