New to S4 ownership and have a few questions

Post by BugsyM » Sun Jun 21, 2015 11:18 am

Hi,

I have recently purchased a B8 S4 S-tronic with the 3.0 supercharged engine and I'm loving it so far :)

I have a few questions which I hope you guys can help with:

How easy it it to remove the spot welded tips that are beyond cleaning as I want to replace for shiny new ones?

Howdo you find the MRC stage 1 and 2 remaps and pully (for S2) as I'm looking for more power in the not to distant future?

Have any of you has the s-tronic remap and what difference does it make?

Thanks

Mat

Hi Mat,

Not driven a standard s4 so can't compare directly with that but having driven a couple of b7 rs4s the stage 2 power is fantastic I also have the stronic map I think it alters the change up/down revs and makes the red line higher. The mrc magic paired with h&r sports springs and arbs makes it sublime to drive.

I have a stronic mrc stage 2, you will love the power!!
I came from a 505bhp Mazda mps and do not miss it one bit. I also have forge charge cooler, eibach anti roll bars and 034 transmission mount.
Scorpion exhaust, carbon rear diffuser and 034 diff mounts going on next week.

Don't give up on the exhaust tip's, I found that they will clean up well with a bit of elbow grease and Autosol.
These are mine when I got my car, 60k of not being looked after.Image

But soon got them back to this.Image

Wow stage 2 seems like a good way to go! does it show up a few cars that it shouldn't?

Did you have the mazda 6 mps? Is it a lot quicker than that?

No, I had the 3. Was a real handful in the wet, that did show up some very pricey cars though!!

Night and day, it's how it should have come from the factory. Made 485bhp on 2 separate rollers.

I think most of the bigger lumps on mine were road tar, I used very fine wire wool and white spirit after scrapping (?) off the worst with a non metal scraper.
I think coke would work but you need to think of a way to soak the tips in it?

Try TARMALADE from DoDo Juice removes tar and is a sticky gel, smells lovely as well

Where are you located, I'm sure if someone's near by with one they'd be happy to give a demo! Image Image

Don't MRC still have their S4? Pretty sure they'd take you out in it to see what's possible, especially if you are not sure between a stage 1 and 2.
