Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
That's not entirely accurate unfortunately. They could be new discs, or skimmed discs, and if the wheels face isn't true then the judder will come back.

Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
So what changes between no judder and the judder returning?
Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
I have had the same problem. No one can find the cause. I have had everything checked bushes, calipers, hubs, wheels the lot by specialist and 2 main dealers none could find the cause. As previously said the bedding in process does improve it but it gradually comes back. The final diagnosis from the main dealer was that my wife was driving it too aggresively and they wouldn't be covered under warranty !! The original set did 42k miles without any wobble I only changed them because the servicing garage said they were corroded and needed replacing .

Hi Ollie.RS4_Ollie wrote:So what changes between no judder and the judder returning?
This explains it really well.

Although mainly a sales pitch, it explains hub runout and how it can affect judder. And runout can be caused by many things - from refurbished wheels to having kurb damage.

Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
ive just had the front skimmed new pads and new rear disks and pads and now get a severe wobble in the wheel when braking from 60, ive changed the whole front end and suspension so cant really say its one thing unfortunately,
maybe i should just buy new disks but dont want standard again
i read front makes the wheel wobble but rears make the car wobble , ill try the handbrake tomorrow
is this just warped disks?

Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
Were the discs skimmed on the car or off? If off, that's no good at all really unfortunately. Does the wobble get worse or better when you brake harder? Does it build into a horrible wobble if you just touch the brakes and dont push harder at all or stay the same?Rick_RS4 wrote:ive just had the front skimmed new pads and new rear disks and pads and now get a severe wobble in the wheel when braking from 60, ive changed the whole front end and suspension so cant really say its one thing unfortunately,

Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
I meant to update this a few weeks ago when i changed my brakes.
I had the dreaded judder quite badly when breaking anywhere above 55mph... i drilled out the holes, re-bedded the pads, checked for play in suspension and control arms.
Anyway, finally i chaged the discs and when changing, embarassingly noticed the inside face of the O/S/F disk was very badly worn, unevenly worn compared to the outside face and the other front disc.
Changed the disc and the judder is gone. I know this isn't the solution for everyone but maybe another area for anyone to check.

What could cause the disk to wear unevenly like that?

the pedal pulses up and down when you get on the biting point, then severe wobble of the whole car and wheel the harder i press
why is it bad to skim off the car? i thought connected to a lathe would have been best?
i perchased new disks from tps this morning
Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
I just left Disc Skimmers and after my third set of discs in 5 years I can finally brake as if had just left the factory.
I had BAD judder even from 30mph, on two sets of brand new Tarox discs and Red Stuff pads. All gone.
Marcus is incredibly knowledgeable and sorted problems I didn't know I had, so I'd consider shipping your discs to him if you can't pay him a visit before spending that much on new discs - I wasted that money, and nothing changed. If you're in the UK, he'll bring his equipment to you as well.
I can definitely recommend his services 100%.
I'll have to find other reasons to come pay him a visit to chat, he lifted my spirits. It's nice finding out you're not the only nut in the toolbox
Cheers.

Re: RS4 BRAKE JUDDER
Can some one post me a link to Marcus' website or have contact details for him please .
I have started to have juddered with what I think is my rears and would like to seek his advice first before spending big money on renewing everything .
Thank you in advanced
