2 new shocks free of charge & re gassed system a year after he bought the car as a "gesture of goodwill"

so it seems the B7's are still getting sorted but not the B8's

I am glad Audi resolved the B7 owners faults, even as a gesture of goodwill, but do have to say......that also stinks !!!!! I have said all along that for some reason Audi seem to be distancing themselves from the problem in the B8 !!!!! Why it's any different to the B7 is beyond me. Ive owned both, and both had the exact same problem. But for me it's simply the difference in how Audi dealt with the two situations that frustrates me. Why help me with my B7 but refuse to with my B8 ??????

The number of complaints just doesn't warrant Audi acknowledging the problem!

Us B7 owners had to provide Audi with proof of a very large number of cars with DRC failure before they would do anything, IIRC we got into triple figures.

On the current data (5 no fix, 5 fix and 5 no fail) you're a long way short of the amount of evidence we needed to get Audi to change their stance. Add to that their increased intransigence and I fear you have an uphill battle on your hands.

Taken for a quick spin this am and it appears to have sorted the clunk noise over catseyes and bumps etc. Lets see how it goes as the miles go on it.

Don't forget the problem arose with the C5 RS6 too. That's probably why numbers were higher.

Sadly that's true.

Back in 2003 I was the person who started the 'dash-pod failure' campaign for MK1 TT owners. Despite collecting over 200 examples of dashpod failures in 2 months, Audi refused to acknowledge the problem was widespread, and instead carried on charging people £800 to replace the entire pod. 12 months later and a few hundred more examples, a friend and I took it to watchdog who did a feature on it (which Audi tried to stop). It was only after that did they acknowledge and start good will contributions.

Audi don't care about the individual monetary aspects, but as soon as it starts to impact their brand they will cough up.

My advice (after 2 long years campaigning), is to collate then go direct to Watchdog etc. Once Watchdog agree to run a feature get in contact with Audi and tell them. It will give you more of a fighting chance.

I did a similar form of attack when I had my MkIV Golf R32 all those years ago.

Basically there was an issue with the engine map meaning an occasional & momentary loss of power when you pulled away. Always fun at a busy roundabout. VW insisted there was nothing wrong. After about 18 months of gathering info, I went to all the motoring press with the info I had & the number of people it was affecting. My case was taken on by Auto Express who contacted VW stating they were about to publish my findings..... It was still published, but the net result was my car was replaced, as a gesture of good will..... It wasn't quite the outcome I was looking for as I had lost 18 months of enjoyable motoring with a car that I grew to hate with a passion & all the money I placed into the car amounted for nothing. But the replacement was considerably better & VW eventually managed to map out the error. But if they can, a manu will avoid committing to anything if it's going to cost them.
It's all torque talk.

Had my car in all day yesterday at Glasgow Audi. They checked suspension and said nothing wrong with it and no sign of leakage but the pressure was down so re charged it. (3rd time in 7 months) so I guess in a month it will have lost the pressure again and back to square one.
I noticed a big improvement in how the car drove when I got it back so low system pressure does have quite an effect on the handling, something to be aware of. I guess with it happening gradually i didn't notice it so much. Noise from front shocks still there but happening slightly less frequently for now.

So what is Audi's stance on this subject ?

The reason I ask, is that although you have pointed out that there aren't large numbers of owners who have completed our DRC survey, there is NO CONSISTENACY with the one's who have. Audi are still replacing B7 owners shocks yet when it comes to the B8 we are all getting treated differently, and getting mixed responses from Audi.

I don't beleive Audi will ever admit a fault again like they did with the B7, but if they are saying its not a fault, then why not tell every customer the same thing ? Why fix some cars and not others ? They wouldn't even try to fix my car because they insisted it was a characteristic and unfixable, yet they have fixed 5 forum member's cars (according to this survey so far).

I could understand Audi distancing themselves from this problem if it was going to cost them a lot of money because so many owners were complaining, but as has been pointed out here, a relatively small number of owners are affected, which would in my mind be more of a reason to resolve the faults a small number of owners have, so they get don't get anymore bad press regarding DRC !!!!!

Collected my ex demo RS4 on Friday 1st May, reg. end of Jan 2015 with 2550 miles on it. Last drove it it February with 550 miles on it. Disappointingly and more annoyingly the DRC is knocking on the front offside irrespective of hot or cold, irrespective of suspension settings and over the most minor of road imperfections. Going back in this Friday......very disappointed to say the least...
Will update with the result....

I was happy when I collected mine last week and it didnt knock. So from what your saying the DRC knock can occur over time ?
