Question for UK owners of US sourced PhatNoise systems...

Post by SunDiver » Sat Mar 19, 2005 11:36 am

Hi folks - got my PhatNoise system this week - bought from the US. For those who have done similar, what did you do with power supply for the USB cradle? Obviously a US 2-pin supply comes with it but it's 120V. I could find a 240V 6.5V UK power supply from Maplins say but wondered what others have done. I haven't tried powering it up just in case...

Looking forward to installing all this - it looks like it's going to be a god system, and cheap from the 'States too!

Can I ask where you got yours from? I'm (re)considering getting one myself!

I had a suitable power supply lying around that I'm using...the US one is still sat in the box!

I just bought a power pack from Maplins with the interchangeable ends and varying DC power, think the phatbox is 7.5v - £14.99.

Loving mine so far, just a drag when burning all those cd's !

I have a new VW one, not looked but guess the fitment is different to the Audi units otherwise they would not sell them branded one way or the other.

Cheers for the thought Hopsta mate :D

You can buy the lead for about 45quid from Audi dealers...that's the only difference...Craigyb bought a VW one off ebay and installed it in his S8

Craigyb if you read this do you happen to have a part number? I think mine is a VW one too (rectangular connector on the lead) and an initial approach to Audi locally didn't sound hopeful for them figuring out what it is for themselves.

I'll have a look at my power supply tomorrow (it's at work). Mine was a US sourced Phatbox but was shipped to the UK with a Uk transformer/adapter.
