that'll teach me to not zoom in :P

Where had it been to get 1000 miles of bugs on it without a wash - that's the more pressing question ;)

Zoom in further and you'll see a bottle of SRF to the right. There was also about £20k's worth of braking on that car too and still boiled.

Those cooling ducts you posted are from a Phaeton IIRC and can be modded to fit the C5 and B5. Would assume you can probably mod to fit the C6 too, so worth investigating.

Car's back from a long weekend away at the Nurburgring. And it was epic. Car drove there faultlessly, did 6 laps in the audi, and drove home, wanting for nothing other than fuel. Car was a real pleasure to drive on the long haul - making mincemeat of the motorways in comfort and speedy luxury. Several upset high-performance car owners in its wake too - 911 turbo on the way out, and a 600hp GTR on the return trip both found out you don't <beep> with an audi estate ;)

Easter weekend is traditionally the busiest at the 'ring and it lived up to that big time. 'Car Friday' is rapidly becoming known as carnage Friday, but we managed to escape the mayhem and stay alive. Saturday was pretty horrible weather in the morning (snowing!) so that was a great chance to get out on track and enjoy myself. The RS6 is so drivable I used the chance to get my mate Dom's girlfriend driving on the 'ring for her first ever lap. 700hp, first lap of the ring, in the snow... what could possibly go wrong? Nothing - it's an Audi, not a BMW. So we didn't die. :)

Saw a few people I know, met a few new guys I didn't know before (some RS owners so was nice :)). Interesting to note a c7 there (Ivan?) with ceramics where he'd killed the ceramics within 6 laps and wasn't very happy...

Image

The RS6 is 100% not the right car for any track action obviously, so I've decided to look out for a dedicated track car to keep the itch scratched. I rented a Swift from Rent4Ring over the weekend, and did 4 laps in that and it's <beep> mega so need a slice of that tbh. They're so well setup and are amazing little cars. Tiny bit underpowered but once on song you just don't brake - for anything. Incredible little things have really won me over. I'll probably end up buying one - I've already spoken to rent4ring about buying one of theirs they are due to retire so we'll see what comes from that.

Epic little swift:

Snowing on the Saturday:

730hp RS6 so easy to drive on the 'ring, even a girl can do her first lap there in it... In the snow! ;)

Only thing I need now is new pads - these (stock) pads have lasted 3 weeks (one trackday at Cadwell and this 'ring trip) - so I'm looking for endless pads or something similar. After the ceramic story from Ivan, I'm not in such a hurry to go down the ceramic route now...!

Looks an epic trip, Ross. The part of the trip that required nerves of steel by the looks, was allowing the lady behind the wheel!

He didn't say much - other than that really. That he'd done 6 laps (two lots of 3 laps if i recall) and simply said "I've run out of brakes and have to stop. No more track action for me :("

I've seen that Ivan chaps car from the last time he cooked the ceramics. The callipers were gold just from the heat. This must be the second time he has cooked the brakes. He does drive it right on the limit though fair play to the guy

Just out of interest, how much did this trip cost you? I'm 30 this year and need to scratch my 'ring itch!! :assflash: :biggrin3:

Did you get the ferry? And hotel cost? Or is there somewhere I can find info on going? Never looked into it you see.

Tunnel return, £120. Tank petrol there, tank petrol back, £160. 3 night, ~£150. So £420 just to be there.

Then you have the laps. 9 laps was about £200. I do a tank of petrol in about 6 laps. And I managed to fry the c6 pads and disks (but assuming they were already nearly done, should have checked before I did it!) £1,700. So £320 for 9 laps.

So it an add up. But... It's well worth it! You'll Find that in 2 days 12-15 laps is actually quite a lot. It's pretty extreme the first couple of times you go out, getting done by a gt3rs at twice your speed can be a little jumpy :)

But... It's well worth it! I went three times last year and every time was brilliant!
