What's the best car you have owned before the b8

for me I still massively miss my GTR for just the speed, but as a Daily clocking up 56k miles in 2.3 years in my 1M is the best all round car I have ever owned

I had a Saphire Cosworth when I was 21 back in 95. Was a crap car, but got me laid way more than any RS4 ever has (even though I've been married since before having my first RS )

Being serious though, there's very little I miss about my old B7. That's not detracting from them, but I much prefer the B8 for what I use it for and how I drive (normally badly)

Probably the car I had the most driving fun in was a TVR Chimaera I had years back. Was super unpredictable, made a lovely noise and used to scare the crap out of me every time I drove it. I used to get back from a sunday morning blast glad I survived

I used to have a Chimera 450 and had a brilliant time with it. I then traded it up for a Tamora only for some drugged up, uninsured kid to drive in to it when I was driving home from a track day. The idiot child then attempted to drive away with the three remaining wheels on his car after the impact - I called the police and they eventually caught up with him.
Since then I have been a bit gun shy about having nice car. Keep half thinking about another Chimera but have sniffed ever closer to the Caymen GT4. I tried to give a deposit on one but Porsche wouldn't take it as all cars are now allocated.

Had my GT4 deposit returned after allocation. I got it in only 36hrs after books opened and still ended up somewhere around 14th on the list, but dealer now tells me he had LOI and deposits going back 18-24months from 'loyal customers'

It's a shame, it really looks like a fantastic package. You could buy one, have a ridiculous amount of fun it for a few years and I bet the residual value would still be very high. It is one that would be very easy to justify not just by my massive over excitement and fun lust but it would even make sense financially as well.

The Helios Blue Campaign has just been valued at £25k the Mars Red one £15k, not bad considering they were £6,700 when new.

I'll always have a soft spot for those golfs. The value they've gained is nuts

Luuurv the Golfs but am now trying to figure out the patchwork quilt combo of carpet, mats and cardboard for the garage floor. Looks a bit like a work of art. Much like the blue GTi.

Oh yeh ... And best previous car:

Passat R36 wagon, soo good and competent, in a B8 RS4 way rather than a C63 or Jeep SRT8 way ..
Aston AMV8 (1973) - loved the way that with 4 people in car you could drop it back a gear at 180k/hr and have the nose ease up when you planted it
Hillman Imp .... First car ... And yes, got laid more in that one than all of the other ones mentioned combined .... Plus it'd go round corners on rails (lowered, fats etc) - sadly 70mph was achievable but 75mph would have needed a mineshaft. Also learnt how to be a mechanic on it .. From the first day I had it. Loved it ... And hated it. Nearly bought another, fully restored and modded, about 5yrs ago.

It's really hard to pick just one, so I've chosen a couple for different reasons...

My 1M is by far my favourite [non-family] all rounder, which I miss greatly to this very day. What a car, with that low down grunt from the twin turbos it had the ability to embarrass cars WAY above its station, all with incredible feedback and day to day practicality...

For handling it had to be the fJCW. It constantly felt like it was on rails. Nothing but a dirty big go kart...

For head-turning and noise, the TVR T350...

Oh and for uber 'coolness' my unmolested Big Bumper MKII 'Valver'...

I've not really had the RS long enough to know where it sits in my thoughts.
